Haha, I can't go to a doctor with a nosebleed!

Although saying that, my sister once had to go to A+E with one.

      Illness.

Specifically, my immune system and what a lack of sleep does to it. Got back from Malaga yesterday morning at about 1am(had averaged about 5 hours per night there), had to take a taxi detour to my grandma's house instead of home, slept 5 hours or so and got up for work. Last night I was at home but decided I'd missed my piano too much so had a ten minute session which eventually lasted over an hour. Went to sleep at about 11:30. Went to work this morning normal time and felt really bad an hour ago so I've come home. I'd already booked to go to Malaga again tomorrow evening for the weekend and am praying I can shift this cold/whatever it is before then.

Ate loads more than usual for lunch, including a bottle of still lemonade+ginger and some Lemsip Max and am about to hit the sack for an hour or so. I was in the middle of remote-installing Office 2010 on a bunch of machines at work so may have to finish that up this evening.

      Good times.

I don't think I've ever had a spontaneous nose bleed, ever, only self inflicted ones (walking into glass doors/football in the nose etc). Never known anyone to suffer from them in the same way some of you guys are explaining either, which means you must all be FREAKS OF NATURE!!!!!!!1!!!one!!!!!11!!eleven!!!!

(and why the hell is there no sick smiley?)

No nose bleeds for me either.

Irk today: Archbishop of Canterbury. I don't give a F*** what you think about anything and I can't believe his opinion is newsworthy let alone top story-worthy.

was reading all this talk of nose bleeds yesterday, i haven't had one for years, until this morning when i woke up with one! and then at the end of the day at work i had a massive headache and that taste of blood at the back of my throat like a nose bleed was imminent, luckily it didn't happen second time round

I managed to freak a Geography teacher out a treat with a nose bleed when I was in my teens. Used to suffer with them a lot and the only thing that stopped it was to tilt my head back - against all the advice not to do this, with me it was the only thing guaranteed to stop it.

So this nosebleed starts, and I do the `Yoink` thing when you realise what's happening and try to use the palm of your hand to stem the tide. At that point I know it's time to assume the position and cue her noticing something is up.

Her: "What's the matter, do you have a nose bleed?"

No, I'm just sitting here with blood pissing out my nose because I've stepped in some Anthrax!

Her: "For God's sake stop holding your head back you could die!!!"

Me: "But this is the only thing that..."

Her: "I don't care, stop that at once!"

So under instruction I tilted my head down and bled all over myself and the entire desk for around 15 minutes.

I've never had a single nosebleed in my life.

Anyway, my irk is music-related. Prepare for a rant.

I am so sick of short sighted, unimaginative, whiney little sh*ts who complain and whinge about "the current state of music". You know the drill, the type of people who say things like "There's no good music out there anymore... it's all Lady Gaga and Justin Beiber".

Look you moron, if, in the internet age, you claim to be someone in the pursuit of new and interesting music cannot see beyond the sort of Top 40 dross played on the radio every say, that doesn't meant that new music is no longer being made. It means you are a lazy and useless. You are not a fan of new and interesting music at all, because if you were, you would exercise basic common sense, think laterally and make use of the near infinite number of music-related resources available on the internet. A person with internet access saying they can't find decent music is like a person with a car saying they can't get to the supermarket.

As many of you lot here can attest, there was no internet when we were growing up. You had to go out of your way to make the effort to look for stuff that interested you. You had to go to record stores in other towns on the hunt for something you heard about once and wanted to check out, and then you'd come across other things that way. Now, you don't even need to leave the house; if you come across something you like, you can download it within minutes. If you hear about a band or artist you like, chances are there's a video or two on YouTube, or tracks to stream on Spotify or last.fm or some such. And with all these resources, there's always links to similar artists so you find yourself tumbling down a veritable rabbit hole of "new music" before you even realise it.

The people who whine about music not being good anymore are people who are too used to being spoon-fed, too used to being told what to think and what to like that they are completely incapable of exercising any autonomy or initiative whatsoever. And next time I hear anybody claim that Lady Gaga to be the first "original" or quirky female singer (almost as annoying as people who say that Eminem is the first rapper to not bang on about "guns and bitches"), I will set fire to them. Anyone that cretinous does not deserve to breathe the same air as me.

There. Rant over. I feel better.

                    Goodnight.

Totally agree with this. I see a lot of artist from the past being mixed togehter, therefore it is NOT original at all. I just wish that she wasnt everywhere I go these days, both in music & image form. Altho I guess its good marketing if in the end you manage to brainwash ppl with no taste or their own mind further.

The way updating iTunes on a PC invariably breaks either iTunes itself, Quick Time, your iPod or all three. No need to moan about how rubbish iTunes in general is as I'm sure it's been mentioned plenty. If only apply could apply the elegance of its product design to its iTunes ecosystem.

Bought another PS3 today, all I've done is download updates since I switched it on. Irked.

                            - Went into Sainsbury's and was horrified to see an issue of the Fortean Times that I didn't have. It's the June issue and, after some rudimentary research, I discovered it had been out since about 19 May. I'm a subscriber and have received nob-all. I tried ringing the subs hotline when I got in, to find that they're closed until Monday. BAH.
                            - Four years I'll have lived at my house come August, and the estate is still a chicane to drive in and out of. They're still building on the site - this time at the entrance. Four bastard years of waiting for huge wagons full of building material to move their fat arses, and navigating the gauntlet of cones and sectioned-off bits of the road. Four years of driving over a shoddy road surface covered in chippings, bits of discarded/blown away material and tat.
                            - I had to go to Ikea today with the missus. It is my nemesis. It is the Devil's Maze, a sprawling labyrinth full of horrors and nightmares. It is a marathon, physically and mentally. The only shop where you seem to have to walk every square foot of its space to reach the end. When we reached the end, we found that the thing we'd went for wasn't even in stock. The mutha.

                            Bad day.

In ikea near mine, you ALWAYS turn left and go direct to the warehouse bit. I went right once, I understand Prinny's pain.
