Right now my irk is me.
In the last 3 months I've become a horrible nasty selfish person, which I've put down to the pressures that work has put on me recently.
The ppl that I work with dont give a flying f*ck about the pressure we have been under & have put a nasty lazy spiteful sly c*nt in charge of our shift.
I got a letter from my manager telling me that due to me being absent from work with a crushed disc it has put a lot of pressure, stress & strain on the other members of staff, & could damage moral. He seems to have failed to realise that my crushed disc flaring up was caused by fact that we have cut our staff down from 5 ppl to 2, which had already put pressure, stress & strain & affected OUR moral BEFORE. Its like we dont count. We're used as the donkeys here. He also failed to fill in the steps he would take to make our working enviroment easier for us while we recovered, & I am back at work supposed to be on light duties but here I am lugging heavy **** around. nobody gives a ****, & after numerous nasty spiteful comments from the guy in charge last wk, today I decided to get my own back so he could see how it felt. And what did I get in return? A box thrown in my face when I wasnt looking. Will anything be done about it if I mention it? No of course not, so right now I'm trapped here until I can find something else.
I've taken it out on my family & my gf, & its just pulling me down right now.

Injury from working conditions - check
Uncalled for guilt and pressure put on you for an injury that they could've prevented - check
No accomodation taking place to account for your injury - check
Envoiroment of bullying where you feel your concerns aren't taken carefully - check
If you're part of a union, talk to the right now. If not, go to the CAB get advice on legal action.
Have you been taught the proper safe ways of doing heavy lifting? If not, they are fully liable for your slipped disc.
Screw them. No job is worth making you feel like crap and risking life long injuries. I've quit before after taking crap from a manager (only at McDonalds mind). Was having a real bad day, I made an order for a custom burger, he responded by mocking my voice (it's very low and I'm pretty sensative about it due to bullying in my past). I exploded, yelling at him, got a pen, wrote and handed in my notice then and there.

Wife and kids gone to bed. Time for ninja gaiden! Ps3 on. Eject DVD that wife and daughter have been watching and put back in case. Open ninja gaiden case and... Where's the disc? Nowhere. Nowhere to be seen. WHERE HAVE THEY PUT IT!? I feel like going upstairs and waking them all up. Livid. I don't want to play anything else. I want to play ninja gaiden!

An irk via my Dad: My Granddad (on my Dad's side of the family) spent the last few years of his life in a nursing home. He sold his house for ?50,000 and the whole of that money went towards paying the nursing home fees. Had to pay for it all himself.
Yesterday my Dad visited his old boss who is worth around ?3 million. His wife has been in a very swanky nursing home for the past couple of years than costs ?7,000 a month. Frighteningly expensive but easily affordable to them when they have that kind of money.
Yet said old boss had just received a letter from the NHS confirming that they have agreed to pay 100% of the wife's nursing home fees. My Dad was slightly irked, to say the least, that in times when we're being told of never ending cuts the powers that be have decided that paying ?84,000 per year to a millionaire who doesn't need it is a good use of tax payers money. I have now joined him in his irked state!

It's probably worked out on his dad's net worth rather than his.
Seems hugely unfair but otherwise, you could end up with situations where a poor, estranged distant relative can't get health costs covered because you're well off and you're the closest living relative making you foot the bill for a relative you barely know..

Hmm? Who's dad? No Dads are involved except for my Dad relaying the story to meI only mentioned my Granddad for the "He was poor and got no help, while these millionaires are receiving mass handouts!" indignation factor.
Legally the money / assets are split between them, so: Husband worth ?1.5 million, wife worth ?1.5 million, wife is in nursing home, husband was paying for it. Now the taxpayer is paying for it instead of the millionaire husband or the millionaire wife. They're both in their 80's now.
I know there are always going to be be quirks in any system which throw up stuff like this, but you think there'd be some common sense involved and some leeway to look at individual cases. You'd think that in a case where the only two people involved are both worth over a million quid, there might be a little flag that pops up and says "taxpayer money could be better spent elsewhere".

Have they got kids? Government is probably looking forward to its 40% (or is it 50%?) share of that ?3 million when they both pop their cloggs!
Edit: I now have an irk to add. Found someone selling a GBA SP locally and in the photo it looked like it might be an AGS-101 (brighter) version. Asked him and he confirmed it was. Fantastic! So I go to meet him, fortunately turned it on before passing any cash and it was a bog standard 001 (the fact it was an iQue version aside). Not really annoyed by the bloke as I'll give him the benefit of the doubt they he didn't really know, more irked by the fact an AGS-101 at a decent price seems to be almost impossible to find in this country and people don't seem to know the difference between them - that's twice I've (almost) bought a 001 described as a 101.Last edited by koopatroopa90; 14-06-2011, 11:27.

There's a fundamental flaw with the project I'm on that needs addressing (namely some elements in the database having no unique identifier when they desperately need one). I keep saying I need some time allocated to fix this, they keep stacking up new features they want added instead.
The longer this is left, the more of a nightmare it is to fix. They keep reporting bugs and problems that are directly caused by it and they're eating up my time.

Got a few organ grinder/monkey comments from the supervisor today suggesting that I am the monkey. Trying not to rise to it, & instead went on a go slow just to piss him off, which worked
