new posts

People starting new threads on a topic but being too lazy to actually explain what the topic is.

This time it's the Ryan Giggs thread - first post is nothing more than "wow, that came out of the blue!". I skimmed down the following 20 or 30 posts and I still have no idea what came out of the blue (or didn't, as the sarcasm seems to imply). From what I can deduce Ryan Giggs is now a homeless person because of something they said in the papers.

If you can't be bothered to type then don't start a new thread, leave it to someone else!

and a related irk: people linking to youtube clips or articles without any explanation of what's in the link - typically by the time I see it the video has been removed (happens all the time) or the article retracted or something, and I'm left none the wiser.

I think that thread was phrased that way because otherwise he would have been breaking the law due to the there being a gagging order on mentioning which footballer is alleged to have had an affair with some munter or other, an order which is currently being ignored by the entire internet and MPs in parliamenet etc. Law fail.

Yeah, I had no idea either. My first reaction was - why isn't this in the football board? I'm pretty clueless about Ryan Giggs.

As for adverts, that O2 one with the alternative royal wedding was a scene for scene remake of someone elses wedding on the internet.

I'm genuinely upset. I thought that was pretty spectacular

I thought it was an original idea too. Bad O2!

Journalists/Sites that think a headline is more important than the content, especially when they are twisting words to make a more controversial headline in order to get extra hits.

Solid white lines are for everyone and are there for a reason!

Nothing like going around a blind corner at 40 only to see a motorcycle coming the other way in the middle of your lane.

Example? No online place will have good headlines, they're all written for SEO so they're rubbish. That's why Daily Mail headlines are all stupidly long online.

Don't want to name names, but the recent PSN stuff has been chocka with em. It's nothing personal, and I totally understand why they are done. I just don't like (for an example) the use of "Hacked" when something has been exploited, or socially engineered.

Really made me smile that, and while it is an irk for adverts to be shamefully rpping off original stuff, i don't mind 02 doing it and making it topical with the royal wedding in that case.

This reminds me of another wedding dance video on the net a while back, it was the bride and grooms first dance and started off as a traditional slow romantic song then the music suddenly changes to 'baby got back' and the couple did an awesome dance routine to go with it, i'd search and link but need to stop wasting time and find my passport.

Which brings me to my irk (more of a worry), I'm due to fly to Dublin from Manchester on Friday, don't know yet if this ash cloud is going to affect that, will just have to wait and see.

Had to pop in to a local bank today, the staff looked like they'd just left school, and I mean the whole staff. My irk is, I feel old.

Also, checked out a branch of Gamestation I don't usually visit, and saw the second hand PS3 prices- ?180. Brand new is ?200. Shouldn't there be a bit more of a difference?

They take the mickey anyway as you can get a new one online for around 180 easy I think.

I went to my local GAME to see how much trade I'd get for Brink. They told me ?25, which is a joke considering they were offering ?35 for Homefront a wk after release.

As I walked out I noticed that Brink was ?39.99 new or ?37.99 2nd Hand. What a rip off!

Supply & demand. I assume that Brink has an online pass of some sort, so to play the only mode in the game, the potential buyer needs to pay even more for it. Therefore I can't imagine the demand for used copies of Brink being high. You also have to consider the 20% VAT Game have to pay for all their earnings. So if they pay you 25? and sell it for 38?, they're only making around 8?.

I've also seen Gamestation selling new games cheaper than the second hand version, but scattered all over the store so it's easy to get caught out.
