So.. where's the slightly lower prices?
I doubt that Apple will increase the price with the next gen iPad, they don't have a history of doing that. If anything the entry level will probably be lower in price.
I also don't think it'll be six months, probably more like three to four considering the iPhone dominates June/July and the original iPad was also launched in the spring. I wouldn't buy one now, rev2 Apple products always feel like the way the first should have been
And it's November now, 6 months is May, isn't that when it came out over here? Or maybe april...
Agree that rev 2 apple products are often much better, but as I said, not really sure what needs improving here. And it's not like the rivals are doing much better/cheaper which is why I fear a price rise if there is much of an improvement.

I picked up an iPad today, walked back in the snow. I've just now turned it on, to the connect to iTunes screen, haven't fully unwrapped it yet. I noticed some light-bleeding on the right (more top right-ish) of the screen, in portrait mode. I will be watching videos on it in bed. So in a dark room, i'd notice it. Just wondering has or did anyone else with one notice any similar on their ipad ?

As for GPU's, there's no real advantage there either as the Tegra 2 platform is actually graphics orientated it's just this time it has strong CPU performance as well. Qualcomm aren't making the same mistake as their previous Snapdragon design either and also planning strong GPU performance alongside their improved processors.

I'm loving oplayer hd for streaming any video types from my web/fileserver directly to iPad with no windows machine in between, perfect for bedtime watching. Proper bo.
Made VLC obsolete pretty much as the only way you can view vies in that is to copy them manually through iTunes, meh it never was a very good port anyway, oplayer is well worth the 3 quid to me. You can download directly from a windows SMB share also but it's obviously slower than usb2 using wifi, hopefully one day they'll let you stream over SMB as well as http...

Got my iPad replaced at Pc World, they were really good. Which actually suprised me!? A straight swap for a new one, nice. I've just installed iTunes 10.1, now to get some apps and games...
Anyone know if it's safe to download the 4.2.1 update from here ? As the net on my other PC, which the ipad is synced with is ropey at the moment...
Download iPadOS 17.2 Build 21C62 / 17.3 Build 21D5044a Beta 3 for Mac - IPSW update files designed to help you effortlessly update or restore your iPad to the latest available iPadOS version by connecting it to your Mac
Edit: Ignore updated...Last edited by wonderboy; 30-11-2010, 23:08.

Those who watch tv on their iPad and need an alternative to tvcatchup may want to check out http://www.filmon.com/tv/?mid=13
Which has the usual....plus some exotic channels ahem.

In other news, I'm still having issues with YouTube, both embedded and in the standalone player. It just seems to take aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages to load, and sometimes crahes Safari.
I have the latest IOS and have tried "Google" DNS 8.8.8.8
Any tips folks?
