What's the difference between the iPad 3 and what they're now listing as the retina display one? (I thought that WAS the iPad 3????)

It's confusing because it's not called the iPad 3, it's called iPad.
They've updated the iPad to have a Lightning connector instead of the dock connector and a faster processor.

I'm not really up-to-date on this, but haven't Apple spent the last couple of years suing Samsung because both their tablet devices look similar (especially when Photoshopped)?

Now are Apple bringing out the iPad Mini which looks a lot like the Samsung Note?

That's because it was never there, it was only ever called "The new iPad"

It's not available to buy on Apple's website though
