This would have gone into the irks thread, but I just got an update that means this thread is now more appropriate! I ordered a few Xmas pressies from Amazon, ?30 worth, chose super saver delivery as there was plenty of time before Xmas. They still hadn't turned up today so I decided to check the order tracking page, which, to my horror, told me that the order had been delivered last Thursday! Which it hadn't.

I work from home and would have been in at the delivery time and date given on the tracking page. I saw that the delivery company was Yodel, which, after reading a few things about them on here, made my heart sink.

So I emailed Amazon a couple of hours ago, expecting them to tell me to talk to Yodel, expecting getting my money back would be a long, drawn out affair (at best!) and that I'd have to stump up for replacement presents in the meantime. Much to my delight however, I got an email from Amazon telling me that they're sending the order again upgrading it to first class delivery to make sure it gets here for Christmas, all with no charge! Well done Amazon

That's pretty much Amazon's standard policy. It works out cheaper for them to use a cheap courier option and resend anything that goes missing than it does to send everything by a more expensive carrier.

Only works once you're working with a massive volume of packages though, but it means very few people have anything bad to say about Amazon's customer service.

And as most of us discover at some point, a company is only as good as what it does when things go wrong (*cough*play*cough*)

Less of a smile and more of a sense of achievement but I managed to replace the home button on my old 3GS. Cost me ?1.50 and about an hour of my time (90% of which was figuring out how to take it apart/put back together again! Almost think I should buy some broken iPhones and fix them up, they are quite simple inside really.

I know some of you mod consoles and stuff so probably seems like nothing but I usually end up mucking things like this up so I'm quite proud of myself

Heh yeah I was worried about ripping the cables at the top when taking it off, the ?1.50 I paid for the home button also included a little tool kit with a sucker which you stick to the screen and pull which works perfectly. Do you still have the touch? Might not cost too much to repair...

Amazon are brilliant. I ordered Rayman for ?27 the other day, and it dropped to ?22 the next day. Emailed 'em and they refunded me the difference

Have had nine weeks on the sick from work, not in a skivey way (I love my job, never have time off sick).

First four/five weeks, I was like death on a stick - last four weeks, a fullish recuperation.

Go to a 'back to work meeting' this afty, expecting the worst, a bollocking from the management, the potential of losing my job. Turns out the manager has had a similar psychotic reaction to a similar medication that f*cked my head in. He put me on 'phased return' for the next couple of weeks, plus made us a very nice coffee and spoke about his own ordeal. I was initially due to do a seven-night night shift, starting Christmas Eve but NOW, I'm doing two days next week, three days the week after and have got a week of annual leave after that. Five days on, sixteen days off, wtf???!

Not only that, got given two full bottles of Ouzo and one full bottle of Raki from a friend of my mum, PLUS have bought all my Xmas prezzies pre-Xmas eve for the first time EVER....this going is simply too good(!!!!!!!)

PLUS, the doc kinda made a mini-mistake and gave us twin batches of beta-blockers, and them ****s make me chill like Snoop.

Well that's quite something... maybe a little fortunate (in regards to your manager knowing exactly what you've been through), but certainly a better response than many companies would give I bet.

^Yeah, with it being the NHS, I was expecting the worst. A nice Christmas surprise (and birthday prezzie) to boot.

Had no idea of your recent illness JazzFunk, hope you're better now and have a better year next year. Happy birthday, too.

^Cheers, S, it was one of those weird situations where the 'treatment' actually made things much worse...things really went pear-shaped, but somehow seeing things from that perspective makes the smaller things seem much brighter when one starts to recover.

Same to you, mate, Merry Christmas! And if you unearth any more choice 90s beats, please pass that knowledge on...!

Finally finding a pair of safety boots that dont cripple my feet .

The 1's they gave me in work were torturing my tootsies for yrs, & since then I've had nothing but trouble with my feet. It was never like this before wearing those shoes.
In the last yr I've bought 3 of my own pairs & spent over ?100 only to find them bending my feet into uncomfortable shapes or the heels giving me mad blisters or the steel toe cutting into the side of my big toe or cutting away the knuckle on it.

Now I've finally got a pair that feel nice n comfortable & my feet feel great after I take them off too!

Straight from the irk thread to report positive news, I was all set to spend Christmas day alone, I live with my mum and she's gone away, both my brother and sister have their own families and plans, wasn't looking forward to it, but had 3 seperate friends offer to let me spend the day/have a place at the dinner table with them last night, which cheered me up a lot, it's nice to know you've got friends who'd do that for you out of the good of their hearts
