Sorting out paperwork. I've spent the last couple of hours scanning statements, receipts, mortgage and endowment details etc. and next to me I have a bin liner full of paperwork that no longer needs to be in my house.

Never been on this route before, have the best part of the carriage to myself and am going through lovely countryside

I had a carriage all to myself on the bullet train from Tokyo to Osaka last time I was there. Three hours in a carriage that had rotating seats. You press a foot pedal and swivel them so you can have pairs of seats facing each other or all facing the same direction, like this:



I turned all the seats around more than once. Almost every time the staff walked through they were arranged differently

I had a friend I hadn't spoken to for years because I'd moved to London, and she'd lost her phone, so I had no idea what her number was or why she wasn't replying to my texts, and she had no idea what my number was. I'm home for a couple of days, and this morning I was in Asda - she was at the next checkout across. This is kind of amazing, that in a city of 170,000 people I'd bump in to the one person I wanted to get back in touch with.

I completed my childhood today. Bought Bigtrak. I asked for this for three years running from Santa and the fecker ignored me every time. Well now it's mine. All mine. Take that, Santa!
