Any one with any level of common decency or intelligence doesn't riot, it's a pure yob mentality thing and does nothing to harm the government just the local civilian populace who are already in enough of a situation. Shoot 'em all

I do find it strange that the police are able to kettle thousands of peaceful anti-war protestors, but struggle contain a couple of 100 baggy trousered youths.

Sorry but while i understand many people are hard done by(although to be fair its hardly china), with even a shred of moral fibre this kind of thing wouldnt happen.

The immeadiate problem is one of standards....or lackthereof, and worsened by social network sites.

While in the past i have disagreed with the unpoliced ghetto method, whats happening now is a bloody good argument for it....let them rot.

I wonder if part of that is a reluctance to act. While probably not the real root cause, this shooting was the catalyst. Reinforcing the idea that it's state versus the people could add fuel to a raging fire. It would only take a few police brutality videos to get more people out on the streets. They're probably hoping it will die down before they have to get really heavy-handed.

If these 100 baby youths were football fans after a match, The Police would have gone in and smashed them to Bits with no worries about communities or upsetting any ethnic groups. Its a shame the Met , don't use the same tactics for these tossers

Yes it's time for the only people who can get this done the army
And do what , shoot people? . After G20 and the outcry of the Police heavy-handed tactics, these scum can do what they want , while the Police just watch (for fear of an outcry) .

That the trouble these days, the Police are a joke , like the Law . Criminals and Thugs have far too many Human Rights and do-gooders fighting their corner

I found this comment online interesting, about what got this country where it is today.

              lauchenlode:

The blame lies squarely with a government elected 32 years ago which systematically looted, pillaged, and squandered our national assets, institutionalised unemployment, and sold us off like cattle to foreign investors. After Seventeen years in power it left us with millions on sickness benefits, an entire generation without substantial skills and a vocational training programme offering No Value Qualifications.

It left an out-of-control financial sector motivated by gambling addiction and rapacious greed, and a housing sector beset by staggering inflation as owners played dice with the rooves over their heads.

It left a massively oversized and wasteful public sector (almost fifty percent of the workforce) endowed with inflated wage packets and gilt-edged pensions as the private sector rationalised and economised with government subsidies and subsistence wages.

And then we had eleven years of New Labour consolidating the damage and waste that they inherited.

Though the government might not have left the country in dire straights we'd still have these instances because the people doing the rioting would still be the same lazy, inbreds they are now. It's simply an excuse. It's clear from the footage that most will eventually be caught as they're not doing so with any intelligence leaving a world of evidence in their wake. Watch these 'hard men' brick it if the military gets brought in

I have seen people in other countries with less who are much happier. There is SOMETHING that I cannot put my finger on going on in the UK that is just really turning people. Partly I think there is no longer a sense of community in most parts. People are often isolated and feel no sense of empathy or connection with non-immediate family. When I was a child, if I did something bad, I would get a telling off at school, then at home, then from my brothers then ... People somewhat stuck together and to a degree the community took care of itself. Now if you tell a teenager off, fear for your life because anything could happen.

I feel like once you shred the fabric of society and then start screwing people over, things like this are likely to happen. Compare this to the Blitz, when people lived in fear for their lives, but had to depend on and reach out to each other. Some said that looking back it was one of the better times of their lives.

The problem with "letting them rot" is that you assume these are all naturally bad people and that what goes on in those ghettos will never affect you. Therein lies the much of the problem..."It does not affect me, so it does not matter". Very many of the affected people are hardworking business owners who live in those ghettos. The worst thing about these riots is that they are lashing out against the wrong people.

Unfortunatly, these yoots are going around like its their entitlement, like they're OWED something by default. The thought of earning doesnt even come into it for them.

I remember being in a state of disbelief when schemes like the EMA kicked in. paying these nutters to go to school, WTF?

Walking to work this morning in Ealing, ave to say I felt physically sick looking at the state of the place. I've lived in the area for over a decade, it was a sad, sad sight.

I'd agree with that, Thatchers actions on the close-knit working class communities was genocide and then everyone wonders why we have no society or community anymore, and not to mention the I'll do what I want when I want culture that is encouraged as long as it makes money. Still as said, it's like a proper 1980s again, when does the Falklands kick off again?
