Doesn't it say in most policies that civil disobedience isn't covered. It's usually next to the old Act of God get-out clause.

Still as said, it's like a proper 1980s again, when does the Falklands kick off again?
Imagine Thatcher never happened and the UK's primary industry was manufacturing. Why as a business owner would I even consider making my goods in the UK where I have to pay much higher wages and deal with people striking everytime the market forces me to lower my output and costs? Why would I not just get my manufacturing done at China or India?
Think we'd produce better quality goods? Just look at the insanely powerful auto unions in the US and look at US manufactured cars. Awful reliability, they drink petrol and they've panel gaps you can stick your hand in. Meanwhile, thanks to unions they've these "job banks", people who would've otherwise been laid off, being paid $60,000 to literally do nothing because there's no work for them.
Oh, and General Motors still ended up having to be bailed out with a 10 figure sum.

I’ve been following the news and some people’s opinions of what’s happening and what should be done are mind blowing.
Ideas about consumerism, the working class, single parent families, twitter, it’s all coming out! I genuinely don’t believe there’s anything too deep going on here. Kids from deprived backgrounds, along with people who just want to fight and loot, are encouraged to do so because it’s still continuing in London. I mean, if you’re that way inclined with a group of others and everyone else is doing it, what’s to stop you running into a shop and clear it out before the police arrive?
However, I think it’s safe to say that none of us in the UK have seen it on this scale before and the sheer depravity of some of the looters and thugs is depressing.
Let’s hope cities around the country get it under control soon. Maybe the MET will deploy the army if this continues into the week?

Whats changed since then?
I seriously think its a simple answer, that at a certain time they removed the cain from schools, and discapline took a nose dive...and after so many years of dipping standards its finally coming to a head.
Not saying that the cain was right, because there were some sadistic sob's from what i hear from my family, but its gone way too far the other way now.Last edited by PaTaito; 09-08-2011, 10:23.
