    Just got a used Panasonic g3 for my daughter. Cheap enough that I won't get upset if she kills it. She's used to my gh1 so it makes sense.

      HMmm I just spotted the Sony DSCH400. Worth paying the extra for?

        It scores better all round, but you can keep doing that game for every, just adding another ?50 on for a slightly better camera.

          Indeed - if you're going to go down that road skip to the end and get the Sony RX100 MkIII or RX10 (RX100 MkII can be had for a couple of hundred less).

              Man, I hate spiders. That's a nasty one for sure.

                Yeah, you and Boris are right. I looked at the RX100 MKII a few weeks ago and nearly bit.

                  Just a common European garden spider, it's only about the size of a 2p coin (although I wouldn't be thrilled to find one crawling on me!). Looks a bit more dramatic than it really is in a close up macro shot

                    We have tinny little Jumping spiders here. They're about 5 to 10 mm big and normally either black or black and white. They are everywhere. I see them in the house a few times but they are harmless and always jump out of your way.

                    This isn't my picture but it gives you an idea of their size.

                        We have these in the Japan countryside. These are in the house a lot, have fun chasing and catching them at night-time;

                        This one was outside;

                          I was mowing the lawn and I spotted a fat spider in the middle of his web, with another lanky spider trying to build on it.

                          I thought "Oi oi, there's going to be trouble here!" as Hefty Hugh felt the vibrations from Lanky Len.

                          I took a photo and a video of the two of them kicking off. I was going to upload it to my Flickr account, but it looks like you now need to join Yahoo. Pffft.

                            I've seen that spider only twice in my 16 years of living here. Nasty things they are. Once was on the ground and another was on our front door. The other one pictured are all over Japan although down here they are more green and black. They don't seem to do anything but sit on webs all over the bloody place outside. I've never actually seen one that's not sitting on it's web

                            @QualityChimp, ah yes. I had that issue with flicker too. Still, worth setting up an account.

                              I need a sense of scale. I'm seeing huge monsters but they might be tiny ones making me needlessly terrified.

                              So glad I'm living in Tokyo. We just get the cute jumping spiders. There are two living in our flat. I love mucking around with them. So cute.

                                That Brown spider with the long legs is BIG! It could easily spread across your hand.
