Yea, that's what made me ask the question - in the robot mode picture it doesn't look like separate armour. And that trailer is an awful lot of plastic to just be armour. Intriguing.

Also says something about not having to detach the shoulder missiles to transform, but I'm not sure. Out in late December, price is 19440 yen.

The weird face thing is the "G1 toy respect mode" - it's supposed to be a Convoy's face inside Magnus helmet.

I can't wait to see the engineering that's gone into this bad boy now, that's going to be some mental transformation

I imagine Prowl will see price cuts if you wait long enough, a bit like Acid Storm and prime did. Acidstorm went as low as ?40 in the end, it still doesn't help that they have priced him so high when you consider the TRS MP prime was only ?100 full rrp, this is a real step in the wrong direction.

Yeah I expect so too & if that's the case then I will get another one but ?60 is taking the mick IMO & as you said definitely a step in the wrong direction.

Box isn't too bad, I prefer the Takara ones though.
I do wish they'd re-release MP10 Prime in that packaging though.

Very cool. Interest raised! I said before not one of my faves but now a bit curious on this.

I liked the packaging they used for the western releases of SW and Acid Rain but the fact they've not listed the character's name down the right hand side of the box and instead used the brand name via red on white means the box isn't as distinctive. Also easier and cheaper to reuse for other autobot car releases in the US/UK, as they'll just need to print new cardboard sleeves. That said these will look great boxed up in a collection once more make it over.

Still looks good and as you say far nicer than the MP10 US/UK packaging.

The build looks awesome. The only issue with Ultra Magnus is that, for obvious reasons, the colours look very plastic toy-like. I guess there's not much they could have done about that. Still, he looks great and the scale is awesome. I will never own him but I will happily envy those who do.

Yeah it is.
A few peeps have been photoshopping the colours on like they do with all the proto pics we get.

It gives you a really good idea of what to expect if I'm honest.

Yeah you find that happens a bit with the prototype bits for TF's someone did it with the Bumblebee silouhette as well

I can't believe how big he'll be, in Alt mode you can fit 4 Autobot cars on the trailer...that's mad

I had a moment of crisis but I'm back in the no buy camp. Though ?77 plus shipping is an excellent price. The issue with him for me is the same as it's ever been, he's too much of a cop out character to be worth the premium to me. The cab is mp10 so it's mostly down to the trailer which though G1 accurate is a very poor working trailer, the cars fit on but without wheel runs you can't roll them on, you're effectively just balancing them on a nobbly piece of plastic. That said, once the trailer is wrapped around the figure the final standing product looks great. I'd have rather they just sold a variant of the trailer solus as battle armour for Optimus at a lower cost. But for fans of the character or completists it should scratch the itch just fine. Hopefully a hint of MP23 can come along now.
