Yeah; this is the classic strategy.

Tories set up commission to do big expensive thing.

    Lose election.

    Labour get in.

5 years later, Tories campaign on saving money by cancelling the big thing they kicked off.

IIRC they did this decade ago with, I wanna say aircraft carriers?

Sunak vetoed a move to increase the energy bill rebate to help families

The Conservatives keep blocking the building of wind farms, but give the green light to eight new nuclear power stations?

Is that the same story as this:
Rishi Sunak ‘refuses to fund plan for greener homes to help cut energy bills’

When MPs get their energy bills paid for by the tax payer, what reason do they have to lower the energy bills?

Sunak says "to smear my wife to get at me is awful"
Or... to have the wife of the heavy tax chancellor be dodge tax is awful
Or... you can't smear her without the offense having been committed first

The point here, I think, is that his political party went for Jimmy Carr, who did exactly the same thing.

Nothing illegal, but acting in a way where they know they're avoiding tax in a way that normal people can't do, and rich people with integrity shouldn't.

Even from a wider party/back bencher Tory line at this point it feels inescapable that the future for the party is either a corruption implosion or a complete clear out and a fresh slate of people in. Staggeringly rotten across the board.

Don't worry, there'll be another scandal next week to distract us from this one and all the preceding ones.

                      Maybe some parties or something?

                        Actually, this could be fun.
What do you think the next scandal will be from the Conservatives.
Not one returning like The Fabled Sue Gray Report, a new bit of news.

Gove has been quiet for ages. He's the Housing minister at the moment.
Maybe, he's given permission to build on greenbelt land and the company CEO made a tasty donation to the Tory funds?

Either that or George Eustice, the environment secretary, was fundamental in choosing nuclear over any green solutions and they're going to be built by ҒЯЇЄЍDLЧ ЙЦҪLЭДЯ ҪФИSГЯЏҪҐЇФЍ ЇЙҪФЯPФЯДҐЄD, whose owner is in the House of Lords.

Javid - the man is too deeply entrenched with this Government and still lacking the dirt on him, just like Sunak was not long ago.

C'mon man, you gotta guess something.
Like "you said, Gove, in GAY, with the coke on the rent boy's arse, but it was Javid with his fingers in the till in the treasury!"

Whilst you're thinking of something, here's Pickles, at the Grenfell enquiry with the total disrespect for those that died or lost their homes:
"Can I respectfully remind you that you did promise we will be away this morning and I have changed my schedule to fit this in. I do have an extremely busy day meeting people... so I would urge you to use your time wisely,"

I like how that at the same time covid tests are no longer free, the number of symptoms leaps from 3 to 12. Coincidence though I'm sure.
