Inflation hits 11.1%, it would have been significantly higher were the Government not paying households to cap the price of energy - something they should keep in mind in four months time.

Second of the perhaps 7 cold months pretty much complete and just done the meter readings, 3 gas units for the month again.
Excellent stuff, shouldn't be a problem at this rate...

Our conservatory is now getting damp and mouldy. We can't afford not to put the heating on now really, it's not good for the kids. They need baths (hot water) and they need not be shivering when they get out.
Scottish Power charge us £225 a month now, but they claim our use is £333. I genuinely have no idea were they get this figure from. What can be using this much power BEFORE we start using the heating?!
I've called around about changing and they ALL charge the same amount. Based on what? Unknown.

You should be able to check your previous/current electricity and gas use on their web site based on your meter readings over the whole of the time you've been with SP. That will tell you if there's been a big increase in your use recently.

I was with them for about 18 months before I went over to Bulb and after a decent online quote start point they put my dual fuel direct debit up four times despite the fact my power use had, demonstrably, not increased from my typically monthly amount the original quote had used.

I ended up in significant credit before I left and much later, long afterwards I received a small amount of compensation from them apparently for over-charging me.

Because the entire summer has passed along with two months of colder winter weather we ran the heating for 1 hour last night before bedtime for the kids. Gives the pipes a workout and we timed it with their showertime. Checked the meter afterward and in one hour it used 24 units of gas, so at our typical rate for Oct/Nov that was 8 months of gas used in an hour.

Likely to switch to using it for an hour each Sunday for the above reasons unless it's a mild one so there will be an increase in costs but we've been using £108 per month and paying £125 + the £67 government top up so we're currently £400 in credit again.

I wish I had a house with decent insulation and no draughty windows or doors. There's no way I could've gotten this far without heating.

I've got the thermo turned down lower than usual so it only comes on when it's particularly cold but we're still using it.

I took the decision to replace my windows earlier this year as I have two blown units in the bedroom, the window in the en suite is blown and doesn’t seal. Also have a blown unit in the spare room and the kitchen. I’ve already had three blown units replaced since moving in here two years ago so felt it best to change them out rather than chasing problems. Work starts tomorrow. Looking forward to brushing my teeth without a draft on my back!

I opted to set my thermostat at 16.5. It's unlikely to click on at that temperature, but if it does you know its bloody cold.
Its not like we can't afford to run it, but I begrudge paying those corporate bastards one penny more.

Our insulation sucks, the house is absolutely riddled with issues but we're British!

Fix them as best you can yourself. Insulation is easy as piss, just don’t fall through the plaster 🤷

Latest bill is in and its a £65 increase. Used exactly the same amount of energy but prices increased compared to some of last months bill and most notably they're now charging according to their estimated use and completely ignoring the meter reading you submit. My parents used slightly less energy in the last month and they want to triple their monthly bill. Blatantly trying to manipulate bills because they can't jack up their prices willy-nilly atm. They estimate that out gas use will multiply X8 in December when in reality they can **** right off if they think we're paying more.

'more than three times bigger than spring last year'
This would surgest to me that they've raised the DD charges but the price of the energy has not gone up. Essentially the whole 'Energy price crisis' is manufactured BS

My DD is at £50 while the £66 is coming in. Bulb are actually recommending I change it to £43... Which is very surprising.

I'm due to be switched to Octopus soon, hopefully they'll retain the £50 credit referral thing as my cousin is moving soon and I can recommend him.

I've been wondering if Bulb have been playing cautious because of the support they've been getting to keep afloat. I'm mindful of it being taken over atm and that changing
