Don’t worry your DD will still be £900 a month though.

The drive to make manufacturers produce more efficient TVs is a good thing (and if they want to sell 8K TVs in the EU, which they probably will - they will do the engineering to achieve this) - and they've plenty of time to get this sorted by the time 8K becomes mainstream. Arguably, even 4K isn't mainstream at the moment.

Given that most households have at least one set, avoiding them all nearly doubling their consumption (average 4K power draw is about 80W), is fairly sensible I'd suggest, given there are approximately 200 million households across the EU.

Most PCs aren't drawing more than 140W the vast majority of the time - when I was running my mining rig it was drawing 220-260W (depending on the algorithm). An Xbox Series X on full tilt is drawing about 150W - few people have RTX 4090s running at 100% several hours a day.

The hysteria I've seen over this is as ridiculous as the hysteria over stopping the sale of incandescent lightbulbs and limiting the power of vacuum cleaners.

hahah, I don't remember the vacuum power limiting thing. I want unlimited power vacuums - so I can have a room that's dust and air free to quickly nip into to put screen protectors on phones.

Marty, you say that like as if vacuum cleaners that have weak suction aren't bloody annoying!

No, I say that as if vacuum cleaners provenly don't need to be 1000 Watts to be effective at the job of cleaning carpets.

I dunno, I had a miele that used to basically eat the carpet and it was way better than my current Dyson.

**** Sharks and **** Dyson. Give me Henry or give me death.

Also, a Miele that eats the carpet sounds like something else.
