Going to admit that I voted LibDem at the locals, because they were most likely to unseat the awful incumbent Tory and Labour councillor we had in our ward, and, err, did. By quite a margin.
Any centre-leftish party which forms a coalition in the junior position with a centre-right party gets buggered, as is the rule, looking at other countries… Over a decade ago in the Netherlands, their Labour Party narrowly came second to their Liberals (who are more like our Tories), formed a coalition together, the Liberals got their austerity policies enacted, and Labour lost most of their seats, and they’re going to merge with their Green Party this or next year to attempt to become competitive again.

Based on how the UK voted I wonder if there's the risk we all 'got it out of our system' and will just vote Tory again at the next GE.
They still clung on to a lot of councils, so there are a lot of asshats out there voting for them. If those that voted against this time slide back to their old ways we'll easily see another 5 years of these nobs.

Unless the cost of living eases remarkably in the next year, I don't see how things turn around to allow the Tories to hold on to power.Last edited by Nu-Eclipse; 07-05-2023, 13:13.

Protestors against having a monarchy cry foul of Police action on the Coronation Day. I've heard enough stories on the radio already to know predictably Police either used or where instructed to use too much enforcement against them

No offence to those who regularly volunteer in their local communities out of the goodness of their hearts - I just find todays drive hugely distasteful

Lib Dems, SNP and Greens pile on pressure as two shadow ministers refuse to commit to repealing Public Order Act
This is where Labour needs to be more firm on position. They are being called out for not stating whether they would repeal the Tories anti-protest laws
At the weekend David Lammy said that Labour wouldn't as on getting into power it would be poor for the party to spend all its time undoing Tory decisions rather than tackling priorities such as cost of living. If you think that undoing an infringement of human or social rights of the people is a poor use of time then you are on the side of the wrong. This isn't spending years undoing every micro-decision, it's a pretty easy one to single out.

Let's see just how long it takes him...
He's already started talking bollocks, making comments like he would turn the UK economy around and make it the fastest growing of any of the G7.
