Horrific abuse allegations about a huge star in Japan, even after his death, but like Saville; His abuse was talked about in public before his death, just no one in Japan took any action. Even after the courts agreed with the claims.

How did the high priest of Japanese pop, Johnny Kitagawa, exploit teenage boys with impunity for so long?

I have a tendency to view Japan as wonderful but these 2 paragraphs remind me that Japan has its own, vile cultural tenancies just like every country, and I shouldn’t be so naive.

”Japan is a nation that prides itself on politeness. Being impolite isn't just seen as annoying or rude, it's socially unacceptable. Many Japanese people believe that inconvenience to others should be avoided at all costs. This can nurture a climate in which raising concerns about sexual abuse is seen as burdening others.

Furthermore, the national age of consent is still 13. Up until recently, men and boys have been exempt from being acknowledged as victims of rape in the eyes of the law. The rape of a man was just not possible in statute before 2017. All of these factors contribute to a society in which the sexual exploitation of men and boys isn't just taboo, it's often invisible.“

China moves to go more in with Russia
Russia offers China nothing. The country has no money, its people are poor and its military isn't making anything worth buying. China would be better off launching a full scale invasion on them while their attention is elsewhere. Russias Uranium mines might prove beneficial to China.
Its just posturing on their part.

The free world has become too economically dependent on China – it’ll be impractical to place sanctions against China if they overtly start backing Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the thought of which scares the **** out of me, to be honest.

You'd think they'd be livid with Russia. The whole war has pushed nations into planning for self-sufficiency which will hurt China down the line, Putin has screwed them over.

There is no delinking of the west and buying from China now, people simply wont do the jobs to make up the short fall in manufacturing, nor does the west have the knowledge anymore and experience to set it all up and run day to day. Germany does, and still does make a lot, but France, uk, USA? Na no chance. Ukraine made a lot of stuff as well before the country was levelled.

Edit. At the same time, without exports china’s economy collapses overnight, so they can’t afford to fall out with the west either.

That guy was a right creapy ****. Never understood how he was so idolised. Now that this has come to light, it makes sense.

From your Western perspective but living in Japan for a long time, does it seem the boy and girl bands are run by people like him and these kids are open to abuse?

Absolutely! From my 26 years of living here there's one thing I've noticed. Anyone famous but keeps out of the limelight has something to hide.
It may not be in the relm of being a peido but there's very often something. On a few occasions ending in suicide.

My son is a good looking lad who wanted to join an agency like this but for modeling. I went with him to the auditions and was not comfortable with it. Too much BS that they hid from the parents and compulsory long stays at locations to "study".
My son and I both said F*that.

Japanese idol culture has a looooot of stuff that I suspect the industry hopes no-one ever shines a light upon.

EDIT: I should say, though, I wouldn't be surprised if this was pretty common around the world in manufactured pop music culture.

I might've gotten the wrong end of the stick here as I saw this while waking up this morning...

But I believe the next part of this was that Elon publicly apologised to him, then it was found that the guy came to Twitter in a buyout of his company, in a contract which has a $100million terminance clause.

No wonder Musk was so keen to introduce an edit button, he needs it to undo all the times where his ego runs away from him.
