Macron says France needs return to authority ‘at every level’ after unrest | France | The Guardian
Macron continues to show what a ***** he is by saying that the recent riots in France weren't because a teenager was shot dead but because of poor parenting

Elon Musk hits X rebrand hiccup as police stop Twitter sign removal | Twitter | The Guardian
Musk fails to inform the police he's having an office debranded. He also renames the meeting rooms to be called names like s3xy and eXposure which seems to suggest a lot more about the way his mind works.

Why do I get the idea that everyone was against this rebranding while Musk waved off any concerns and just went ahead with it?

Where seeing history unfolding here i imagine we will see books written about this, business schools will hold entire semesters worth of lessons on how musk took a 45 billion dollar company and destroyed it one stupid decision at a time.

It wasn’t worth 45b in the first place so I wouldn’t worry too much.

Yes, I’ve seen similar points made and they’re right. We kind of assume successful people know what they are doing and I certainly don’t know anything about cars or rockets so have to just take it for granted that Musk must know his stuff there. I don’t know coding or anything under the hood of social media either but Twitter is full of people who do, including many who actually work(ed) for Twitter and so, when they tell me how much of a ****show it is, I have to wonder about the cars and rockets and so on.

We've already seen problems with the cars - there was an issue a while back around the eMMC that were used in the cars between 2012-2018, too many writes to them (eMMC chips are notoriously short-lived) and Tesla was writing a lot of logs files to them eating up all those write cycles.

It caused the cars to fail.

It has since been fixed, but I don't really see this much differently than the safety recalls that other vehicles have.

If Musk was writing the code himself, I'd worry.

He’s not writing the code for Twitter either, Marty. He is making some godawful decisions that affect the results of those who do.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to work at any of the Musk companies, but there is a difference between Twitter (or whatever silly name it's been changed to by now) and SpaceX/Tesla in that Musk isn't as restricted due to not having a board of executives and shareholders to answer to.

Best thing to do with Musk is stop giving him and his associated businesses so much coverage. Like Trump it’s what he craves.

This was definitely going to get turned off. I saw last week a load of notes along with paid adverts - "This is a dropshipper, this item can be bought from AliExpress at this URL for 50p instead of the £14 they're charging" - literally linked and paired up with the advert.

Not that I was complaining. I loved it but I knew then that this was gonna go.
