Ah, look on the bright side. He's 77. He might die.

On a positive note, not only is DeSantis failing in his presidential bid but signs are emerging that his home state of Florida is beginning to turn away from his control as well

"despite legal peril"...why do I feel that's a plus for a large portion of the Republican voters?

Do read the full inditement: https://www.documentcloud.org/docume...dictment-aug-1

There are going to be more charges following this for his co-conspirators listed in the document, and I'd be very surprised if Rudy Giuliani wasn't one of them.

"Co-Conspirator 1, an attorney who was willing to spread knowingly false claims and pursue strategies that the Defendant's 2020 re-election campaign attorneys could not"

Already enjoyed hearing people on the radio fail spectacularly to defend him. It goes beyond even OJ levels, he was clearly guilty whilst it was happening, let alone after all this time and the doubling down he's done since. His guilt on every charge he's had to date isn't remotely in question, it's the issue of sentencing which is going to be the biggest elephant in the room. It's too easy to imagine them being weak on accountability or him gaming the system if he wins the election.

It says more about Trump than anything else, in that if he gets elected, he will try to weaponize the justice department (again - he failed last time). I'm sure people are aware, but the justice department is an independent pillar of the US political system (executive, legislative, and judicial), that's the whole point.

                              Tomorrow

It's already tiring seeing the same bullet points as were pointlessly parrotted in 2020. It's like people have mentally blocked out what an utter ****show Trumps first term was. A second term for him would undoubtedly be much, much worse than that one too.

Talk about Hunter Biden is utter redundant when the opposing side is tripping over their drool to bossom up to Trump, as is Bidens age - something that was rattled on about last time and now people act as though he has neither completed a term just fine or is only a mere 3yrs older than the Tango Kid himself.

Republicans should be much more concerned that after nearly a decade their sole hope remains a man who has none of their interests at heart, a known criminal who will prioritise himself over their needs and acts as a lifeline to a party with a sustained vaccuum of personalities within itself who can lead the party once Trump is either permanently out of office or in the ground.

Depends on what their interests are really - I don't think those interests include making the lives of citizens of the US better; staying elected in their safe seats, however, may well in certain States involve backing Trump given how many in the Republican base are drinking the cool-aid.

What is extraordinary is that even if he's convicted of conspiracy to defraud the United States and conspiracy to defraud rights (of the US citizens), he can still serve as US president.

There's something very very wrong there.
