The Gov UK website actually is pretty good, yeah.

Any time you have to deal with US Government websites (like even something as simple and commonplace as getting an ESTA), it's like they literally haven't been updated since about 2002.

Conversely, I have a problem where every single year when I renew my car insurance they can’t automatically check my details on the DVLA database (to make sure I’ve no speeding points etc) because I can’t get a check code from the website as it doesn’t accept my details (driving licence number, NINO and postcode) and nobody can tell me why other than a vague idea that something “might” not be input right on their database but they don’t know what it is or how to solve it. So instead I have to ring them up during office hours and get a manual check code that has an expiry date and inevitably the insurance company don’t check it in time and I have to go back to the DVLA and ask them again for another one. The only solution they’ve offered is that if I renewed my driving licence (at my own expense) it could possibly fix it but they can’t guarantee it.

My big irk is noticing how online how some of the big sites have gone backwards and are getting worse

Youtube searching for stuff and getting tons of things not related to what i actually searched for and a load of sponsored crap

Twitter again tons of the sponsored crap and spam

Even google search seems to be getting worse to

Amazon again searching for stuff can be annoying at times not to mention the amount of fake reviews etc

Not to mention fact is devices are listening to us and have done experiments to test it like talking about a super specific thing not mentioned before and then seeing ads for it after a few days

I haven’t used Google search for a long time. It was terrible even then with all the ads and sponsored hits. You were lucky to get a genuine result on the first page. DuckDuckGo all the way.

Oddly enough I've just removed DDG from my Chrome after using it for about two years. Got sick of all the American results. For my use at least Google comes back with better UK based results.

I'll no doubt go back and give it another go at some point as I do like the idea behind it all.

I'm old school, Firefix with Adblock Plus and NoScript and no ads during Google searches.

It's wall to wall coverage and yet theirs still a massive amount of misinformation out there, the rumors where that he'd groomed some kid since he was 11 and then had a sexual relationship with him when he was 16.

The truth was he slept with a bloke who was working as a runner on his show and had a relationship with him between the ages of 18- 20 ish, he'd also had communication with him on and off via twitter from the age of 16, after he met him when he visited a college he attended.

Abuse of position? yeah,

I don't know if people expect more to come from this because of previous stories of other celebs, or if there is actually more yet to come out.
At the moment it's definitely walking a line.

I think with Schofield, it's a bad look regardless but the recent stories and developments with his brother have made things untenable. It's too close to home and I think that's part of why ITV originally wasn't going to do much about it but escalated as the story refused to go away. If his brother wasn't a convicted offender, or he didn't present a 'wholesome' show like This Morning then it would have likely gone away. Likewise, I don't think the media would have gone after him so hard if there hadn't been the nonsense Queens Funeral story and also if he'd done the same thing with an 18-20 year woman. The mixture of elements though were deadly.

Even though I'm a cycler the amount of waste in shutting down roads every summer for the past few years to put in cycling lanes no-one uses is sheer lunacy.

The buses themselves are also bad, wife and daughter feels your pain, Diamond are not much better than First.

I've been at my current place for 5 years and its got substantially worse in that time. Just non stop grinding traffic until I'm almost home.

First are the worst. When I used to work later shifts they would have one bus arrive an hour, and often it just wouldn't arrive. Ended up leaving my job because of it when they wouldn't give me an earlier shift.

They need to make it illegal to cycle in the road where a cycle lane exists, enforcing it. They also need to abolish bus lanes, they just eat up road capacity sitting there empty most of the time and the buses are slower than before the bus lanes were installed
