Should never have let Nunez and Josemi go!

Heard a nice interview with Rafa on Talksport this morning. He was using a few lines from You'll Never Walk Alone. Very clever of him, the fans need to get behind him and the team. You've got a hell of an injury crisis going on at the moment, once it clears you'll be back.

Adrock: In your list, Insua and Aurelio are quality players - now both internationals for Arg and Bra respectively.
I agree with you though, we need CL football to keep going. Two years ago, we lost 1-3 to Reading before a big CL game - people complained when Torres and Gerrard were taken off.
But, look at our spending, the only funds we have for transfers are those made post QF in the CL - our spending is basically dependant on that.

Liverpool need Champions League football because they need a buyer. The club will probably be sold no matter what (that banking deal runs out in under 2 years, no buyer = administration) but the higher profile internationally the club is, the more competition between buyers there'll be.

          *edit*

looking at the tables, isn't it already slightly out of Liverpool's hands? If Fiorentina win (which they must be favourites to do), there's still a fairly big goal difference to make up in 2 games.

            Er...no.

I'm pretty sure that the group stages of the Champions' League are primarily decided by head-to-head results between teams rather than goal difference in tight situations.

That being the case, Liverpool would need to win all of their remaining games (obviously), beating Lyon by two clear goals tonight and Fiorentina by three clear goals at Anfield.

Also, the goal difference really isn't that big, considering that we only lost to Fiorentina away and Lyon at home by two goals and one goal respectively.

Liverpool are the better looking team but wow, there was generally awful football overall in that half.

Lyon are utterly hopeless the second they get into Liverpool's half (although they're putting good tackles in in defence). Liverpool were giving Lyon far too much credit and need to push more, Lyon're there for the taking.

Liverpool should win this pending a freak Lyon goal.

Agreed, Liverpool just need the killer instinct.

I think they are pushing it mate. Need to still be aware of the strength of Gomis and the sudden skill of Lissandro. Vosene should of netted as Torres but I wish that was Torres on the end of that Voronin chance.

From one extreme the the other is Babel. See his freekick? When out for a throw lol. Good goal though.

Liverpool deserve the lead. Can't remember seeing such an awful performance as Lyon have displayed.

                          Ouch. 1-1. That's really undeserved.

Guff. Kiriyanakas should of stood on his feet. Unlucky reds, but if Vosene had been Torres in that first half... bah. More gloom.

Lyon were so incredibly poor, didn't deserve the draw.

Worst game of football in terms of technical ability on show in recent memory

So you saying we should of pissed it? Apart from Benayoun and Masch, there was no technical ability on the pitch, true.
