Smurf... eff off. Concentrate on your own pile of ****e.

Worrying that without the sending off, we may have not got a goal. Again, some really dodgy displays from certain players in the first half. Careless and wasteful passes/crosses.

However, the boys did well in the end and it was the good moves that forced the Wolves player having to foul twice.

Another 'cup final' tonight. Cant wait for sky's horrible punditry during the game. I rarely watch any of the studio stuff anymore.

I'm surprised Aquilani is fit, he supposedly suffered a small strain/tightening in his thigh after the Wolves match. Kuyt being back should be good. Insua is gonna need some serious help to cope with the inevitable pace Villa will put down his wing so maybe Kuyt will be sat on the left to help him out.

One more game I'm worried about and feel Liverpool really need to win if they hold any hopes of making ground up on the teams above.

        Is correct.

I really don't want to write Aquilani off so early into his Liverpool career, but his signing screams "Rafa Panic Buy" all the time, imho. His piss-poor injury record was there for all to see. For the £17-£20m spent, Rafa could've signed tailor-made Xabi replacements and arguably better players like Ever Banega (Valencia & Argentina) or Hernanes (Sao Paulo & Brazil), surely?

Agreed. That said, I do feel that Villa really aren't great at attacking and breaking down teams and will therefore try to repeat the tactics that they used at Anfield ie. defend and counter-attack with pace. Let's face it, a draw suits them more than it does us.

Liverpool have to win all their head to heads with 4th place rivals now. I don't expect Spurs and Villa to keep playing as they are till the end of the season but 7 and 8 point leads mean they have a lot of leeway and won't need to.

It's a bigger game for Liverpool than Villa which should give them advantage in terms of drive but Villa are in excellent form.

            TORRES!!! YOU BEAUTY!!!

Much deserved win in a game that was fairly scrappy at times. We were the better side, no question!!

Some really poor final balls from us. Aquilani and Johnson being the main culprites. I suppose the weather conditions didn't help make this game look anywhere near entertaining. Errors everywhere and in the end, one by Villa that cost them the match. Another Torres-style finish we've come to expect when he's in that situation. Grats to him. Good 3 points in the end, but it was torturious to watch.

On the positive side, that was arguably our defence's best performance so far this season. Carra looks to be getting back to his best and two clean sheets on the spin should help confidence no end.

Pepe is the Prem's best keeper at present, surely?

Shay Given, by a country mile. Shame his defence is a bit ropey.

                      I'll take that as a wind-up, coming from a Man-ure fan!

Pepe Reina over Shay Given for me, and that's honestly not being biased. Given is very, very good, but Pepe edges him. Has more all-round natural ability and has been more consistently good in arguably more trying circumstances.

I don't care who the best goalie is, but Andy 'Easter Head' Gray did say during the Villa game that Pepe is 733t (best in prem at the mo). Must be true then.

Pepe has excellent ball distrubution going on too

I think Aquilani will be good. I was watching tonight and you can see he has neat and tidy play already, only 2 games after a very long stretch out from injury and playing in a country with massive differences from Italy.

The thing he'll bring once (hopefully) he gets up to speed will be tight control and distribution that Lucas and Mascherano struggle to manage. Aquilani will have something different to the both of them. I'm confident of that.

Also, I'd just like to point out that Lucas was very good again tonight, his short passing was crisp and he was crunching into tackles. He has probably been the highlight of the season for me so far. He has been consistent and done exactly what Rafa has asked of him. An unsung success so far this season, I think.

The stigma that was attached to him is unfair, I think I'm one of the only ones who kept faith in him. Blind faith, some might say

I'll give you Reina is half decent and one of the prem's top 3 keepers but Carragher back to his best ? he looks a shell of the player he was and if Villa really went at him he looked highly suspect as is his way nowadays.

He's shot to me and needs replacing.

Good to see Villa made to again look like the ordinary team they are, they aren't any good, just at the higher end of the chasing tat.

much deserved? are you mad?? better team how?
worst liverpool team ive seen in 22 years of going the football, even gerrard looks a shell of his former self.

both sides were awful...you won due to dunne falling on his arse and the class of torres to take advantage with added awful ref.

neither side deserved anything from that game...

plus i still cant feel my feet. never been as cold as that at a match before nearly enough to buy bovril heh
