I was hoping for a draw last night so Spurs could gain two points on both teams, but a Liverpool win was the second best result for us

Gonna be a really really significant game at Anfield on the 10th. Another win for Liverpool and they'll be right back in the top four hunt, a win for Spurs and it could give us that extra bit of self belief to really push on with our own top four challenge. Can't wait!

I don't think you deserved to win either.

I can't remember Friedel having to make a particularly good save, where as Reina had to make a couple of quality saves. I think a draw would've been a fair result, but we (Villa) just edged it in terms of chances. It was a very poor game though in fairness.

I think last night showed the difference between us and a supposed 'Top 4' team. The individual quality of one or two players.

I agree with the fact a draw would have been much the fairer result. But can you point out the couple of quality saves?

Im not being difficult, but I can only remember the Downing one. The only other save I remember was the one from the Agbonlahor shot, which was never a quality save, just a poor finish on his weaker foot.

I think Villa sorely missed Young, his pace would have ruined Insua.

Liverpool did play ****. A lot of incomplete lax simple passes were being made. There were spells where we piled on some pressure being in possession, but everytime that happened Friedel may as well have been having another tin of dog food.

The weather, the away fixture and our run of poor form was crying out for a sly scrappy snatch and grab win. That's what happened fortunately for us.

What did everyone think of Aquilani's second game for the club? Probably wasn't fully fit or used to the playing conditions but he didn't look up to it at all.

I think Liverpool dominated the center of midfield for the first half, early in the second half that changed and I reckon Aquilani was tired.

His passing throughout the first half was good, apart from his final ball. Every single player failed at that last night though, so maybe its a common thing with the conditions/confidence.

Had a **** game. As did Johnson. The pair of them had the mange. Passing the ball carelessly. Dunno if it was the conditions or what, but they were both having a mare.

I think Aquilani will take some time to get used to the new pace he's been surprised by. No doubt he is quality though. Johnson seems to have lost some confidence. Hope he can recover soon.

                Ye ma.

                  Meanwhile in Miami...

A Man U fan? ME? I've been called some things in my time before but sheesh...

(For the record, I'm a Nottingham Forest fan, and don't really have any favoured team in the premiership at the moment. Maybe Fulham.)

Liverpool have been straight out awful this season - not a bit lacking but just crap. Look at the gap between a **** Liverpool and an "on-fire" top 4 challengers (Villa, City, Spurs) and it is not that big. If Liverpool play to PAR, the gap is nothing at all. If they get a run going, it is fine.
Sad (in some ways) but true, the top four teams are, over the season, much better. Arse were close to being overhauled last season until about now - then class shows through. Not saying we will get the place we want, but am sure Spurs would be worried about a four point gap with half the season to go. We have been utter **** - realistically, there is only one direction.

                      Famous last words??

The Spurs game is absolutely huge for us. A win and we're a point behind them with confidence flowing again. Lose and we're 7pts behind them and quite possibly out of things completely....

worst liverpool team ive seen in 22 years of going the football, even gerrard looks a shell of his former self.

both sides were awful...you won due to dunne falling on his arse and the class of torres to take advantage with added awful ref.

neither side deserved anything from that game...

plus i still cant feel my feet. never been as cold as that at a match before nearly enough to buy bovril heh

                          Sorry. Wrong answer.

We had more possession, if lacking in the final ball. We moreorless dominated in the 2nd half. Villa had a bit of joy from set-pieces and Agbonlahor's chance aside, they created nothingof any real note.

Villa are average at best. I'm sorry, but they are. Only thing they're good at is counter-attacking with pace, imho. Don 't dominate teams, don't break teams down and don't have much in creativity or guile from the middle of the park. Totally lack dynamism.

Almost agree with that, I would say they are a tad better than average but they lack any form of cutting edge. I would fancy Liverpool, City and Spurs to finish about villa.

They're even talking about Birmingham as potential Champions League qualifiers in some places now.

                              The fools.

Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to the sporting media in this country.

                                Nothing.
