That video was crazy! The utter contempt in Gerrard's face.

When you lose the captain, it's only a matter of time.

Two very good posts Sharkskin-Man. I read the BBC website commentary on the game and they also mentioned the boos were from Brum fans towards N'gog.

I have no issue with Benitez going, as long as a better replacement can be sort. For me, that wouldn't include Martin O'Neil or Guus Hiddink.

Fernando has recently had an operation on that knee, I would imagine the ice is applied after every game and training session to keep any swelling in check.
Thats a fair point but I simply do not trust a word the guy says. For me he took Torres off, saw the reaction so popped an ice pack on his knee. Torres may have looked a little tired but a 50% Torres is better than a 200% Ngog.
As for after the match, well he has clearly lost Gerrard in the dressing room now so no point trying to cover it up.

        Just my views.

Maybe a bit too harsh on N'Gog. He did nestle one past Van Der Sar early in the season. Aaah the good times.

But Ngog did more in 30 minutes than Torres did in an hour.

Obviously only an idiot would suggest David is anywhere near Torres' level, but Nando was having a bit of a nightmare and was basically offering nothing to the team. Normally a fit Torres will give the defenders a proper chasing for the whole game, even if he's not making any chances, but yesterday there was nothing.

I think he would've scored at least the second chance that Ngog missed and possibly the last (although that was a tough ask and would've been a brilliant goal)...but crucially, I don't think he would've got any of those chances in the first place.

And as for the ice-pack conspiracy, Rafa is the world's most stubborn man (to a fault some would say) and never shies away from backing his decisions - he was given the opportunity by the interviewer after the game to confirm whether Torres was injured and he stated very clearly that he was not.

And he definitely isn't the sort to pander to Gerrard's hissy fits (thank God).

Also, this whole thing highlights a big decision the club has to make.

This summer probably represents the last time Gerrard will command a big transfer fee. I think he's one of the best players to ever play for the club and when in form possibly the best all-round player in the world....but I think I would sell him for ?45m+ if there were any takers this summer.

                Really hope he stays though.

Given how reliant Liverpool seem to be on Gerrard and Torres scoring...who on earth would you replace either with?

                    Kenwhine Jones

All good points you made again for sure.
Personally Rafa has to go, he has never been decent and Liverpool have been a negative footballing side for too long now, one dimensional also. This season has highlighted the flaws hugely. Benetiz desire not to start Benayoun early on was a joke, he was always on the bench despite possibly being the most creative player at the club. Like Houllier before him he has signed a glut of poor countrymen. Spain will be littered with average ex players in a few years.
If he doesn't deliver 4th place he should step down, best hope i think.

As for Gerrard maybe its also time to cash in on him also. Replace him with some decent players, maybe a slightly lower calibre but give the squad some much needed depth.

I hope he stays too, I know I moan about the lad, but that is largely down to how amazing he can be. I feel really lucky to have seen him play at his peak. Buuut...

The thing that actually got me thinking about this is a chat we had in the pub yesterday about Henry, and how quickly he appears to have declined and then on to how Wenger (and Ferguson's) real strength isn't buying players so much as knowing when to sell. I've just got a feeling it could be the time.

As for his replacement, it'd be a similar situation to when the club sold Keegan, who many saw as totally irreplaceable, and we all know how that turned out. Teams are constantly changing, and no player is bigger than the club, even the greats like Gerrard.

Gerrard is a great and a shame if he doesn't get a PL medal as he deserves it.

                            Ouch!
Reina, Torres, Arbeloa, Garcia, Alonso, Reira, Morientes....all full Spanish internationals and I would suggest quite a bit better than the likes of Ferri, Cheyrou et al.

Agree regarding Benayoun though, I'd always make room for him in my team if fit, cracking player.

Reina only decent this season, most improved player in fact for me.
Torres amazing yeah but not hard decision to buy him.
Garcia was ok, scored some special goals but he has gone.
                              Reira ok again but gone.
                              Alonso, gone.
                              Morientes past it.

Some quality yes but all but one have left. The idea is to build a team, not get rid of them.

Reina best keeper in the league since the day he arrived, brilliant player.

Benitez gets nowhere near the credit deserved for taking the plunge on Torres that other managers decided was not worth the gamble. Lots of eyebrows raised when he was signed, and more than one opinion piece in the papers suggesting he had over-paid for him.

As for the players who left - teams are constantly changing.
Garcia was part of the Torres deal, so no complaints there.
Arbeloa turned down a contract extension and asked to be sold, so not much that could be done about that.
Reira is still here, but has probably sealed his fate by being a twat of epic proportions, happy to see him go.
Morientes was just a failed gamble (but one worth taking I think, given his ability).

The only dodgy one, and the one thing I think Benitez has seriously messed up on, is Xabi Alonso.

Still the point was that his Spanish signings were Houllier-esque, and apart from Josemi and Nunez, I think that's a bit harsh.
