Oh sheeet. Berb to get 6. Rooney 12.

Thought we were actually pretty good today, Meireles looks a totally different player in the middle and he and Lucas again showed they are a good pairing.

Konchesky carrying on his wonderful run of form. After a not-terrible start to the season, he now looks like an absolute dog of a player.
You often hear of people taking time to 'settle in' to a team. He may well be the first player to settle out of one.

Spurs fan in peace (If we don't get the forth place I'd much rather the Pool got there than Citeh and their billions). Just to say I was pretty impressed with Meireles today. Johnson kept Bale pretty quiet too - you'll be therabouts at the end of the season if you give Hodgson time to build, I reckon.

Was at the game yesterday and I thought we played pretty well, certainly the best side in the first half. A little unlucky with the own goal but we let modric run far too far.

After Jamie went off we were really rocky at the back and they were all over us.

Konchesky is snail like and lennon was giving him the run around all day, many many time they had the chance to get decent balls in from the right and chose poorly. I am very rarely critical of Torres but on the very few occasions he had a sight of goal he seemed reluctant to have a shot.

          Roy is rubbish though.

Haven't posted yet as I have been digesting the performance. I was happy with team in general, the chances created were excellent. The entire team bar Konchesky and Torres played to a good level.

Torres' finishing was poor but the fact he got into the positions was very encouraging. I know its a loss but its nothing like the rubbish we've witnessed earlier in the season. Again Meireles and Lucas are very encouraging in their partnership. Maxi and N'gog were also particular highlights.

All in all a lot more positives compared with negatives.

Another masterclass of 'in the hole' play from Joe Cole. I know he's not 100% fit or anything but he looked lost against a not very good Steaua side.

If this guy starts against Villa on Monday there is something wrong.

I have it on good authority that Joe smokes, and you can actually see that in his performances, even when he was fit. He looks like I do at Thursday night 5 a side.

Big game tonight, its such a shame that regardless of the opponents or their current plight I still have no confidence at all that the current Liverpool set up can win.

Hopefully team tonight doesn't feature any big changes from the Spurs game, only enforced change would be Kyrgiakos for Carragher.

Seeing as Newcastle have just sacked a manager who was clearly over performing I hope the club can look at Hodgson before the January window and assess whether he is the man they want at the helm. The current team is capable of a European place for sure, lets hope they are at least demanding that from Woy.

I know Villa made us look good, but got to congratulate Lucas on another great performance. Babel stepped up and did well. N'Gog continues to impress. Still young, tends to over do it at times, but defo gonna mature into more of a talent.

Some rumours going around to of how Torres has met with Barca, Rennes winger Sylvain Marveaux seems to be on, and there's more rumours of a possible deal for Eden Hazard. Aaaaall Rumours, of course!

Babel is still rubbish. His goal was lucky and his all round game is still crap. He couldn't manage to keep on-side often. I thought he played better against Steaua.

I do agree with your point about Lucas, surprisingly

Both central midfielders were excellent tonight. The pairing is growing excellently, I am really really hoping that Woy doesn't feel the need to please Gerrard and put him back into the centre of midfield.

Also, the one major concern was the possession stat at the beginning of the 2nd half. Its not much of a bother when the team are looking good to win and are 2-0 up but the reason the possession was so poor is the defence. They are far far too willing to pump it long, against a better team that spells disaster. If that carries on I think the Woy era wont be successful at all.

Finally, N'Gog MoM? Bollocks, Lucas was sublime. He was everywhere all night long making sure the Villa midfielders never got a chance on the ball.

Good, bright start from Liverpool tonight. Ngog continues to impress me and Lucas did play well. Babel is still bad and he was offside for the goal iirc. Villa were pretty poor mind but Liverpool pressed them well early on.

Yeah a decent performance, I wasn't expecting 3-0 with our three biggest players missing.

Lucas is slowly winning me over

Slowly?!?!?! He has been the best performer this season. He is growing into one of the best destructive defensive midfielders in the league. How much more does he have to do to convince you? It was very heartening tonight to hear the Anfield crowd appreciating his play and applauding him many times throughout the match.

Also, can I just add Andy Gray is an arsehole? Can anyone seriously believe that the team back when Houllier left was better than what is there now. That team bar Meireles and Konchesky was entirely Benitez's. I think we all agree Konchesky is crap.

Honestly...if I had £1 for every idiot that I've ever heard try to put such deluded logic across about LFC Houllier 03/04 > LFC Benitez 09/10...

As for Andy Gray being a complete and utter sphincter? Is correct.

Firstly regarding the above posters. I think Gray meant Houllier left Liverpool in better shape, they had qualified for the Champions league and that was before moneybags Chelsea and Man City came. So back then your squad was stronger than most prem teams.

And regarding Torres to Barca? Not going to happen as they are in financial ****. And Torres doesn't fit the style of play at Barcelona. He struggles with Spain with most of the same players, yeah Messi might make a difference. He's more suited to the premier league. Plus I can't see Barca spending big on a player who has been off-form for quite a while. He's had like one decent performance since his return from the world cup and that was against Chelsea.
