He will probably start considering Lucas is injured. I hope Henderson manages to get some playing time too, because he definitely has the ability to become a top level player.

For those who have yet to see it...

Brendan takes no razzmatazz from Sterling. Taken from a TV doc due to be released in September or something (the trailer does make me cringe though - proper Americanised).

Credit to both Rodgers and Sterling though.

        Blocked by fox! :/

Rodgers certainly is a good talker. Definitely beginning to win me over.

Lucas Leiva out for 2-3 months.

          For feck's sake.

I hope he can get the best out of that young lad. Such a huge talent on paper and seems to be able to read the game well.

Two days to go until the transfer window closes and Liverpool have been busy. Charlie Adam appears to be on his way to Stoke for five million, with the money funding a potential bid for Clint Dempsey. Appears Spearings will be going out on loan to Bolton.

Also looks like they're lining up a bid for Wolves keeper De Vries to keep Reina on his toes!

What do you guys make of this as well?

Andy Carroll: Liverpool striker keen to stay at Anfield and fight for place

Andy Carroll wants to stay at Anfield and fight for his place despite Liverpool's attempts to move him on before the transfer window closes.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has tried to persuade the striker to accept his time at the club is over as he attempts to raise funds for new signings.

But Carroll remains committed to Liverpool, having already turned down one proposed move to West Ham. Newcastle's offer to take Carroll on a season-long loan remains on the table.

              Stay, sell, loan out?

                For me:-

Carroll: Sell if we can get adequate money (?15-20m) and a better centre-forward in to replace him, keep for season if not.

Adam: Sell, but can understand why he doesn't want to move after just a year at the club - not his fault that he was given the contract he got.

Spearing: Probably worth selling if valuation can be met, but also probably worth keeping for half the season seeing as Lucas is probably out until the New Year and we don't really have another true defensive midfielder.

Cole: Getting him out has to be priority (I'd personally consider paying him to leave), but who would touch him when he's reportedly on near to ?100k a week? Purslow, you are a C**T.

I'll be astonished if a direct replacement isn't brought in before the end of Friday.

A remarkable decision from the club.

Sturridge or Dempsey look like the two strikers Rodgers is targeting. Shame really about Carroll. Everyone was behind him to do well.

Getting more impressed with Rodgers by the day.

Sturridge is a no-no (was on the bench in Monaco tonight), Dempsey deal looks dead in the water (with Spurs - who else? - set to swoop, if reports are true), Spearing & Carroll gone on loan (with no direct replacement for the latter, amazingly, leaving us with only two recognized strikers and raw youngsters in Adam Morgan & Samir Yesil), Joe Cole STILL at the club and a paper-thin squad with just over an hour to go.

This transfer window looks like a complete and utter shambles for us. Only Liverpool could make such a spectacular mess of it like this.

                      So frustrating it's unreal.

                        ....And it's all over.

A truly sh1t transfer window. We are 1-2 injuries away from REALLY struggling. Time to f?ck off the cup competitions this season and place ALL focus on the league, methinks.

Brendan Rodgers has been make to look stupid by the club's management.

I dont understand the dismay at the transfer window. Carroll wasn't removed permanently so there was no new money available from his sale. The hope is that he has an excellent season at West Ham and they agree to pay half decent money for him later in the year.

Refusing to pay more than 5mil for a player who is 29 and in the final year of his contract is sensible. There is no use chucking money at players, look where it got Comolli and Dalglish. Spurs chose to spend the money because they had the money and that was their choice but Liverpool need to be sensible with every single penny they spend.

This season has already been described by many as a rebuilding process. That means Rodgers will have to get the existing, small, squad to work as hard as possible and try to get a lot of youngsters through. Adam Morgan has been impressing in the other parts of the club and deserves his chance to be a back up to the strikers, a third choice before him would be preferable though.

Anyone reckon there is a slim chance Owen could make a surprise move back? As a free agent he doesn't have to be signed during a window, he wants around ?30,000 a week or so I read and he would obviously have no transfer fee.

I'm happy right now where the club is, of course more players would be useful but they have what they have. Its time to move on and do what they can.

                              Owen back?

                              Jesus wept.

As much as I dislike Owen, there's no denying he can score goals, therefore he should at least be considered.

Either him or Klasnic (ex Bolton?) are both free agents, so it would foolish to dismiss either of them given our current predicament.

Other than the debacle of Friday night, I think we have done very well this window. Got rid of players who will never feature, or BR has no use for in his style of play, and brought some good players in.

I've read we will save circa ?24 milllion a year of wages alone, which in the current climate, canot be sniffed at.

The only problem I see is that if (which is highly likely we will) go into the transfer market in Jan for a striker, we'll be paying far over the odds than what the true price should be.
