I agree with the red card comment, poor decision. It was a soft penalty too, and I honestly thought Suarez should have been given a penalty, but I think a combination of his reputation and dramatic fall counted against him.

Such a shame. We were in control of this game for large periods, even with ten men, but the sending off really made us open on counters.

I was proud and it showed me that we come out a much better team than we have been when we get through this transitional period.

I thought Liverpool were generally ok today, the better team for sure. Very unlucky overall with the red but I can see why he gave it in live play. Suarez should have won a penalty too.

It was a typical united away performance really, doing enough to win without really looking very good at all.

Liverpool look like a dispirited team, it wasn't bad luck that lost them the game is was simply the fact that the way they are playing now is not good enough to win games in the premier league, they couldn't even finish hearts off properly in europe. They don't have much creative talent, just bags of energy and nothing to do with it. I can see Norwich beating them.

Rodgers will be sacked pretty soon.

Dispirited? I thought they were the exact opposite. Ran hard, played generally well and were pretty unlucky overall.

They were running about yeah, but playing like desperate school kids. You had people like sterling fluffing amazing chances. Granted he actually is a kid, but then they have no one else to turn too for attacking options. So they are buggered.

I can see this biting you in the arse some day.

I think it's way too early to write us off. Didn't some fools write Fergie off in the beginning of his time ay Man U?

I think we need to strengthen areas, but also utilise some of these great looking youngsters more. A team for the future. I think the owners and sensible fans are with Rodgers' plan to rebuild and also be given the time to do so.

Rodgers is a typical case of a manager too stubborn to try somthing new, just like Roy Hodgson before him. Neither of their styles suited the team at Liverpool, who are a very direct attacking unit and have players for that style of play. I'm not a big fan of Kenny Dalgleish but he knew how to utilise the team he had, Rodgers will only play his way, and he does not have the team for it.

Sure he could build the team, but if you think they will give him years to do that then you are wrong.

There's also the fact that Liverpool simply aren't currently as good a team as people think they should be, which doesn't help.

The good news for Liverpool fans is right now things couldn't get much worse, but that feels like something that has been said at the start of every season for years now, so it's not that good news.

New from the kick off we were going to lose. Other than from corners, or some magic from Gerrard we just dont look like scoring and are no way near ruthless enough. Going to be a long long season.

Incidently, I have been playing as Liverpool on Football Manager and it seems that Giuseppe Rossi is the man to end our goal scoring problems - 43 goals in his second season at the club. Probably be peanuts seeing as Villarreal are in division 2.

I'm no Liverpool fan, but damn you lot were unlucky.... The ref did his utmost to ensure Liverpool didn't get anything! Red Card? FFS! Ref!! Penalty!? That's too f'ing soft!! I wonder when Man U will stop getting Ref's decisions...

ignore rmoron It's easy to spout that crap when Man U get so lucky game in and out! One day their luck has to run out!

You can't put down Man U's huge success over the last 25 years down to luck. It's good management, a winning mentality, and having the players who can actually win you those games. Currently Liverpool don't have any of those things, which is why they are yet to win a game this season.

Man U have been unlucky in the past, I remember a ridculous FA cup game a few seasons back when Portsmouth went to old Trafford and won simply by having luck on their side for what seemed like every second of the game. It happens to all teams occasionally, trouble is with Liverpool it happens every week. They are like Wolves were last season, they dominate quite often, hit the wood work often, look like they are in control often, but don't win often enough. And well you know what happened to wolves. Liverpool probably wont get relegated but they probably wont have a successful season either unless some big changes are made.

I think you'll find we won that game at Old Trafford with flair and burning desire.

Or 90 minutes backs to the wall and a lucky pen.

Having looked back, Shelvey blatantly deserved a red, it was a complete car crash of a challenge. Foot high, studs showing and he went straight through Evans.
