I always suspected Liverpool would do well as Barca havent been the same team as last year this season. Really glad they did well as well becauase Barca are the most un-sporting bunch of dicks in Europe.

Even if Eto'o plays the 2nd leg Liverpool would have to be AWEFUL on the night to not get thru, esspecially considering there form at Anfield.

      Barca are better then Arsenal.

Word of warning, at home means jack. depends on if you push for goals? on the counter attack best team in the world bar none. Ronaldinho and Messi just back from injury last game and Eto'o be back.

Forgot to post in here yesterday.

Great trip, awesome ground size-wise (although the place is falling to bits in parts and isn't anywhere near the lushness of the Bernabeu) and fantastic display from the Reds.

The ref must've been a Barcelona fan, some of the stuff he was giving was insane. Ronaldinho was a total embarrassment, going down a couple of times like he'd had a heart attack.

Sissoko was amazing and made the rest of the midfield look like little boys. If they ever make another Terminator film he's gotta be in with a shout of replacing Arnie.

Excellent first start from Arbeloa too.

Probably lose to Sheffield Utd now :|

Sorry to be an arse, but what he lacks in pace doesn't mean he can't score goals, and he's proven that pretty much everytime he's played for us since coming "back". Sure, he's not the player he once was, but as long as he has the service, as you know, he can always be useful.

As I speak he's already lined up for a hat-trick against Sheff Utd (yeh, I know they were penalties, but still )...

Easy win with no problems. Don't know if Crouch can use his head anymore either!

                Cruised through it really.

Mascherano looked the business considering he's been twiddling his thumbs for months, made a couple of mistakes but was quick into the tackle and used the ball very well. He's a bit of a midget though, don't really notice that on TV.
Gerrard was excellent (although the first penalty was a wee bit dodgy) nobody could get near him.
Pennant had (another) very good game, always available, attacked his man and used the ball well.
Gonzalez was decent too. He doesn't have the ball skills of Pennant but he works really hard, is quick as anything and wins loads in the air for a winger.

Good job the midfield were all on form because Crouch didn't do much before he got his face kicked off, Kuyt looks absolutely knackered and apart from the pens and one magic pass Fowler was generally well off the pace.

Official confirmation of Andriy Voronin joining from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

Without wanting to state the obvious, it certainly looks like the end of Robbie Fowler's Liverpool career. Also, from what I've heard on the rumour mill in terms of future signings, Crouch & Bellamy may be looking over their shoulders, perhaps?

I would hope we keep Bellamy, defenders are scared ****less of his pace. His work rate is outstanding as well.
I personally rate Crouch, but wouldn't be surprised if another 'big lad' like Iaquinta came in to replace him.

It's frightning how many people are complaining about Voronin before he's even kicked a ball for us...

I have no probs with Bellamy, but wouldn't be sorry to see him go, tbh. Has pace, work-rate and (flashes of) brilliance, but his consistency is questionable imo - he's never really been a truly prolific striker, except for (maybe) his spell at Blackburn Rovers.

I think that Peter Crouch isn't as poor as people make him out to be, but I simply don't rate him. His ability in the air is dreadful and he doesn't really seem able to hold up the ball that well for someone of his size.

I always thought Peter Crouch held the ball up very well actually. Though you're right about his awful heading ability.

I dont know a lot about Voronin but should be a useful addition and another option.I personally hope we keep Robbie for another season I know he wont play much but he wont let us down when he does and if the others cant learn from him then there is no chance for them.

I would certainly ditch Bellamy and thats nothing to do with his recent misdemeanor. I just dont think he is ever going to score enough and I have no faith that he will finish that one chance you get in some games.

Very Happy with Kuyt so far too and Crouchy is always handy to change a game if needed.

i had the same watching barca last night, some of the stuff Ronnie did was great tbh, eto looked good. they were a million time better than Wednesday, but they need at least 2 goals and i can see us getting at least on so we should make it. but won't be as easy as i thought after the 1st leg

Bilbao have a garbage team this year and look like they are finally gonna go down. We'd put more than 3 past that lot at home.

Barca should be worrying about us, not the other way around.
