Carrick's form up until a couple of games ago had people talking about him being in England's starting eleven. Shame he's had a couple of shockers . Anderson was magnificent against Liverpool last season but is just back injury.

The problem in midfield seemed to be we had no one tracking back to fill the space just in front of the back 4 which really played into Liverpool's hands with their Gerrard playing off Torres formation. It really heaped the pressure onto our our defenders which is where the mistakes were made (no defending Vidic's decision not to head the ball for Torres' goal though).

I agree with that. I'd have expected Anderson to drop back, but he didn't. We need Hargreaves back

Everyone was poor today tbh, and i thought fergie started with the wrong team. He really should have started with his strongest.

But its just one of those days. It really isn't worth worrying about now as its past. Fulham next and i expect United to wallop them.

For most Liverpool fans we've already felt that we threw away our title challenge weeks ago. Today was about showing that we own our real rival when faced with em on the pitch.

Keep dreaming H..think this is the first season you took the points of us home and away for a good few years now so saying you own your real rivals(unless you mean Everton )is abit of a tongue n cheek quote even from a mickey mouser lol.

Am I the only person who thought United looked likely to score before the Vidic sending off? They seemed to up their game in the second half before the incident.

We were doing well in the second half yes. Triple substituion was a positive move but then moments later Vidic goes and we were pretty desperate after that.

Have to credit to the ref. He got every decision absolutely spot on today.

Thought we started to turn a screw a little more than what we had offered previously Chain,but to be honest we looked right out of ideas going forward today with Reina not realy having a save to make all game ahfter our goal,to many forward players to deep picking up the the ball for me also and to be fair Liverpool looked dangerous everytime they came forward and Torres gave Vidic and Ferdinand a right game today probaly the toughest they had ever had.

Torres was a handful. I just think the result was rather flattering to Liverpool. At 1-0, we looked good until Vidic messed up, and then Evra gifts them a penalty - good run by Gerrard, Evra was caught on his heels. He knows better.

Second half, I thought we'd get another. Yes, Liverpool looked good when attacking, but the game could have gone either way. Why no one was tracking Gerrard all the time is beyond me. Obviously the sending off and great free-kick afterwards settled the game. But really, Liverpool weren't dominating like the 4-1 suggests, imo. I'm not saying they didn't play better, but I really saw it ending 2-2 until the sending off.

what was slightly harsh tho making us play on a saturday lunchtime kickoff, when we played on wednesday, livpoo had an extra days rest. u could really tell it showed today,
why not a super sunday game , oh well.

i think we did need 1 wake up call game, and at least its not in the fa cup or c league, we can afford to slip up a little in the league afterall, but must not take or points lead for granted.

Absolutely. Don't forget, they'd not had a game last weekend either. Or a cup final the weekend before that, that went to penalties. I did think it was a day too soon for such a big game.

So we can all agree, United only lost due to the Sky Sports contract
