There are a lot of 'world class' forwards who disappear when marked by a quality defender. A lot of the time people know/remember these players because of tricks like stepovers, dummies and little flicks of the ball. You can get around average defenders like this but a veteran defender will know that for all it's flashy nature, they have very little control whilst doing this and it's a case of timing when to stick your foot out and steal the ball or even to put a bit of (legal) physical pressure on them.

It's what players do when up against people who know their tricks do that make the transition from good player to legend. It's this reason I don't respect Ronaldo, when this happens his solution is to ensure he goes down with every challenge in the hope of getting a foul, if he doesn't get the fouls, he becomes anonymous outside of set pieces.

How often do you watch Zlatan?

I judge him from what I have seen of him and that would be not just in the Champions League against Liverpool. However his performance against Liverpool was atrocious last time out, extremely poor. He wasn't really shackled by Liverpool because he had his chances and boy did he fluff em up.

Ibrahimovic had three very decent chances to score and missed horrendously every single time. Torres had one chance and he scored, that is the difference right there. Torres is a world class striker, Ibrahimovic is just a ok striker/forward or whatever you wanna call him.

      Once again.....

Most overated player on the planet.

IMO a player can only be rated as one of the best if he performs on the biggest stages which Zlatan doesn't. He goes missing in high pressure games, i don't even think he has scored a single goal in the champions league knock out stages.

He's still a good player but he can't be called one of the worlds best until he proves it. If it comes down to a straight goal scoring record comparison then even players like Luca Toni are streaks ahead of him.

Do the big games in Serie A not count? Noone said that players like Rooney and Ronaldo were bottlers when they went almost two years (I think in Rooney's case) without scoring in Europe. Ibra is a very very good player. Greatness comes with pressure and so he has to do it in knockout occasions. But in league football, he has been immense.

Anyway, back to Chelsea...this season - bit like Ibra - flattering to decieve against weak teams....

Anelka's come out and said Scolari's the reason for our awful form against decent sides. Said it's only the pure talent of the players enabling us to cope with other teams.

Although I don't agree with him mouthing off I do agree with what he's saying. Scolari's job has to be in major danger

I'd say more immediate concern is that Anelka's place in the squad whilst Scolari is manager has to be in major danger.

I can't believe he'd come out with something like that.

The thing with Anelka is that you could well and truly believe he is capable of saying something so stupid.

He has, throughout his career, repeatedly shown he is an asshat.

                    *sigh*

Scolari's got to go. We're not going to win anything this year.

I was expecting last year to be our transition year. Just appauling.

If you lot win the European Cup that might save Scolari's job. Or maybe not.

could you even see us making it past the next round on this form?

It's possible. I mean if the European Cup is all you lot have to play for, you can rest your big players in the league games and save them for that. Like how Milan and Liverpool have done in recent years.

Chelsea, like Liverpool, will win bugger all this season.

And we (WBA) will almost certainly be relegated, although it might take longer to be a mathematical certainty than Pool / Chelski's trophyless seasons.
