first 3 days have been disappointing, terrible football, loads of empty seats and on tv at least stadia that are coming across as largely devoid of atmosphere as it all gets drowned out

can only get better really, going to be a long month if I watch 3 games of this a day !

I thought this game was okay ish. Antic should've taken Zigic off the pitch for Lazo way earlier tho. Ghana was better, that son of Abedi Pele left a good impression.

Maybe this Vuvuzela has to do with the crap performances, the players apparently can't even hear eachother. Although its also simply a case of all teams being afraid of losing the first game.

Best goal this tourney was easily the first one, by that Shambala dude.

Er...Brazil beat Scotland 2-1 on the opening day of France '98, although it was a Scotland OG that decided it.

That ball wafts about like a hot fart. They reckon it's the most consistent football ever, yeah consistently flying well over the bar. The Hurricanes would struggle to score with it, even the dude with no shoes.

Well my point still stands about 1st game results not meanng much. In their first match, France drew 0-0 with Switzerland in 2006 in one of the worst World Cup matches I have ever seen yet went on to get to the final.

The host nations at 2002 though played great stuff to watch, and a lot of the opening fixtures in that World Cup were decent.

This has been the worst start to a World Cup I've ever known, entertainment-wise. Terrible games, with few shots, most of which are straight at the keeper. Too many goals have come through mistakes rather than enterprise. Just piss poor.

We're not even halfway through the first round of games yet though. Can't imagine Ivory Coast vs Portugal is going to suck on Tuesday afternoon, and surely Brazil are going to give North Korea a total hammering tommorrow evening.
