Well, on another day, Arseshaving would have won a penalty. It was definitely a push.

The guy was onside, no doubt. It was such a quick transition from onside to appearing offside, though, I can sort of see why the linesman had his flag up so swiftly.

Really poor barndooring from the Arsenal players though.

Whether it was an accident or not, it should have been a penalty you'd think. A foul should be a foul, whether it's intended or not. The only thing it being an accident should affect is whether and what kind of a card is awarded. Whether or not he meant it, he denied a decent goalscoring chance, so it was an offence.

I'd be surprised if this isn't the actual rule anyway.

It clearly was a foul, Bramble didnt mean to do it but he still pushed him over.

Having said that Arsenal should have won the game regardless, but they didnt.

        toythatkills, I blame Bendtner.

Houllier made me lol. Saying you deserved to win when yes, you could have had 5 or 6, but those chances weren't taken where as we did take ours and deservedly won because of that.

Plus justice was done with the penalty as the ball was clearly out of play in the build up.

County Durham is England's footballing hotbed after statistics reveal the area has produced more English-born Premier League players than any other county.

Positions 1, 5 and 8. As suspected, the North East = THE BEST. Take that Southerners!

5 match ban for Fergie. Think it's right as he keep launching personal attacks against refs that no other manager does.

Presumably that includes the suspended ban.

I hope he takes matters further. It's ridiculous - can't have an opinion even when the ref was clearly watching a different game to everyone else. Got to be against freedom of speech laws. The FA should acknowledge the ref was awful that game. Pathetic organisation.

How is it commentators dont get banned when they say refs are crap?

Surley the people who their descions effect the most should be able to complain if people on live tv can?

This is due to him questioning the integrity of referee, rather than the actual quality of his performance.

I can't recall any of the UK based commentators suggesting a Premier League ref was potentially bent recently - if they did they would almost certainly be sacked.

Did you see the game? The ref was either bribed or he's a ****ing idiot.

                        Or both.

Not to mention I can't recall any non-retired refs commenting on a manager in a public statement in a professional manner, let alone on a personal basis.

When Ferguson or any big manager attacks a ref, his comments will make the news, the back pages and fans will feel justified in treating a ref badly. If they want to complain about a ref, the FA have channels you can go through to make your feelings heard in private.

Football is incredibly lenient to the treatment of their refs compared to other sports. Cricketers get heavy fines purely for "aww come on!!!" type reactions, let alone running up to them swearing like a certain Shrek like player does so often.

On the refs performance: The penalty was a penalty. Perhaps if Rooney hadn't dived around so much, the ref would've sent off Luiz. Funny how Fergie seemed to neglect to mention that Vidic could've easily been sent marching far earlier too.

Man U have had more than a few decisions go their way, often utterly unbelievable ones (just ask Spurs) and Raphael and Scholes both escaped deserved reds in recent weeks

There's a good chance that was Liverpool's last European game for 2 years
