Personally I think it is about time there was a wage cap introduced. The amount of money that is frankly wasted in football is alarming. It could be used in so many better ways within sport and give more back to the communities that each club is meant to represent.

I feel sorry for Wenger in that i think he wants to raise the wage and try and compete with United, City & Chelsea but the board won't let him. I don't even think he wants to go silly high just higher than currently which they probably can afford. The only solution for them would be like Nakamura said introduce a wage cap or get bought by rich investors.

Show me a manager who wouldnt want to spend and i'll show you a flying pig landing and wondering how he can sell rocking horse poo. If you haven't got the money you haven't got the money.

And if you've got the money you,ve got the money. Im not saying they have or have not but the question to ask is can Arsenal and its fans accept not being a top 3 or 4 side. If they can then there's nothing to worry about and they should just carry on the way they are running.

The talk of money ignores one key thing: that loss would've been pretty appauling for anyone in the league, even for a team just promoted.

It's not so much a case of not having a world class squad, it's a case of not having a properly assembled squad. Maybe he's holding out on getting a 23 year old world class player for a bargain price. Frankly he should've got a cheap but experienced 30 year old whilst he waited. An experienced defender can boost all the players alongside him.

Money and weakened squad aside I think something really does look wrong at Arsenal. The players just didn't care, second to every 50:50, stood off players all game and left loads of space.

Yep. That's been Arsenal's problem all year. There's so many passengers in that team. They just don't put in anything like the effort you'd expect. No team should ship eight goals in a game, injuries or not. I bet Norwich with seven players out would still have enough fight to go to Old Trafford and perform. They'd still get beaten, but they wouldn't get mauled. Even if they did, they'd have at least done it trying and would have been able to say "we did our best."

There's not many Arsenal players that can say that tonight.

Arsenal could of got Barton & Parker on the cheap this summer to replace Fabregas and Denilson. I always wondered what Wenger would of thought of that as both had solid seasons and neither would demand high wages. There is always going to be baggage with Barton and iv never liked the guy but i think he could of helped Arsenal.

Stoke's game wasn't even the best game in Stoke, probably

Spur's game was almost an exact repeat of the Liverpool game. Let in a goal 10 minutes before half time, then simply didn't come out second half Man U game. Could be they haven't changed and they're just not scoring as much to counteract their weak defence but they seemed to have fitness or motivation issues. They weren't making the challenges, they weren't jumping for the headers.

If they don't sort themselves out quick, they could keep seeing similar performances everytime they come across a team with a focus on attacking.

                          *edit*

Just read Redknapp's blaming Modric for the performance. If one player wanting to leave shakes up your whole squad that much, you've some major issues. That aside, he was vague about Modric's future for a fair while, fueling speculation. It was only the chairman who eventually came out and said he wasn't going anywhere.

On MOTD2 they showed a replay of one of the Man U free kick goals, and you can see players in the wall not even turning around after the ball has gone past just in case it's a rebound and they need to defend.

There's no fight in them at all, no motivation. And that has to be down to the manager. You can lose 8-2 and still look like you've given a ****, but to go down that hard and look like you're not even bothered... that has to be sorted in the dressing room by the captain and the manager.

                              Watched that too very odd.

It's grim for Arsenal as what options do they have?

Can't sack a manager 2 days before the end of the transfer window, of the most important players they could sign, Cahill or Alex, both will now have their asking price inflated buy 30%+ because of how desperate Arsenal are.

                                What managers are available anyway?

The whole "we can't afford it" stuff is rubbish as the players they need are cheap (older, experienced players) and how much will they lose if the attendence at the Emirates goes down?
