using the aircraft has opened up this game no end

i found the harrier to be fiddly at first, especially since you have to destroy 4 spy boats whilst contending with the 3 harriers that are trying to kill you

still havent came across the apache yet - except on the training missions

completed 65% - not really bothered with alot of the small missions except the import/export of the cars since it does pay well

back in my hood and i've just reclaimed it - the city is burning now and i think my next mission has something to do with 10 penny

great game - never played it on the ps2 - but i dont see many differences

      just done over 22hrs

Yup. Got the PC version and after a few missions got bored and started causing as much chaos as possible. Got bored of that and decided I'd much rather play BF2. Way too big a game to be finishing twice.

Agreed. That's precisely part of the reason why I've not picked up the PC version, despite the more stable engine/increase in resolution.

I'd be throwing away 200 hours worth of time on my PS2 save, and would face probably another 100 at least to get back to where I was. San Andreas is mammoth, but oddly (like all GTAs), becomes less daunting once you've settled into a rhythm after just a few hours of play.

I still haven't explored every inch of the map, but it's comfort gaming. Something to dip in and out of whenever I want to step into an active, alive world.

after having this game for 8 months and after 2 save files deleted i have finally completed all the main missons and now have accumalated over 40 hours playtime and 80% complete!

i think i've finished it - well the ending credits rolled passed after the mission with 10 penny and the fire truck

only 68% complete - gonna concentrate now on reclaiming all the gangland in los santos

still havent came across the apache yet - feck, i guess it must be in the compound near to my airfield, that was the only place i could find the patriot and i had to sprint to a paint shop getting chased all the way

yeah the tenpenny mission is the end of story missions.

its gonna take some time for me to complete all the minigames and horseshoes and all those though!

managed to find the apache or hunter as its called

just get gold in all the flight lessons - also got the bi-plane

                  but i am fecking annoyed

i lost my leviathan just off my main runway and the rhino, carrybob and jet plane have all disappeared from my hanger - fekking bugs

just so i dont have to trawl through this entire thread what do you get when you get golds in the boat and bike lessons

still got the car lessons to get all golds in but i'm sure i read somewhere that you get the monster truck

also completed the freight train missions - which were pretty easy but very fun, once i completed it i derailed the train for fun

also the vigilante missions in the apache are a hoot

                    Gold medal list:

                    Bike school: NRG 500
                    Boat school: Jetmax
                    Driving school: Hot Knife
                    Flying school: Hunter

I've been playing this game for what seems like a lifetime now but still haven't got any gold medals.

the bike ones are easy to get, the only golds i have.

the best i can do on driving was silver and bronze on flying, i hate flying and i have not done boating yet.

boating is very easy to get the golds and the motor bike had a couple of problems but nothing serious

the flying was okay as well - been playing around with the harrier and it does make you a better pilot

the only hard one on the flying lessons was the parachute jump as you have to hit the middle marker and get 55seconds or less and i kept on getting it in the middle with 56seconds on the clock and my score was 99% everytime

So a year on then (nearly)...still gives some briliant memories this game

Heh. I'm still playing it - some 240 hours in. Still not got to 100% completion either (currently at 96% with a the fire-engine mission, Ammuniation shooting range (stuck on the shotgun part) and the race-bowl missions to complete. It'd be my overall console game of this generation if it wasn't for ICO.

                              240 hours!!! HOLY CRAP!!!

I want to play this again, the game is genius!

Ditto - still playing it and still not on 100%. I've yet to collect the vast majority of spray tags, horseshoes etc, complete the Chiliad Challenge or do the race-bowl mission in San Fierro.

I still play the game regularly and actually had a long session on it yesterday afternoon. I'm constantly noticing bits and pieces I hadn't noticed in the previous 150+ hours of playtime such as a car showroom in north San Fierro with a huge glass frontage where you can drive a car straight through it from the 2nd floor. I must have driven past it hundreds of times but never noticed it before.

For me, there's no other game like it - the way it can keep me playing nearly 12 months on without getting slightly bored. I can easily lose myself in the amazing game world, whether its exploring the countryside areas on a trial-bike or just simply taking a break and watching the sunset over the desert.

                                Roll on Liberty City Stories...
