I'm just fighting The End at the moment. It's so good I don't mind the fact he's obliterating me every time. I just love the sneaking around through the reeds and trying to find him through the Dragunov scope. Shame I seem to have missed rain camo somewhere along the line though
Ace game so far though (as Mardigan 8 says, after the first meet with Eva it'a all amazing).

Finished this one a few days back, and what can I say? I'm totally blown away by the whole thing. The story is clever, with some nice twists, but not as complicated as that of MGS2, which is nice. The controls are nigh on perfect (as far as I can see anyway), and graphics are simply stunning (who said the PS2 doesn't have any life left in it?) and the boss fights are both tense and original.
I love the fight with The Boss at the end. It's so emotional. They don't want to kill each other, but it has to be done. The Boss is seen as a traitor and must be killed. Then you get that twist at the end from EVA. That was a kick in the nuts. The setting was brilliant as well. Absolutely stunning location. Very peaceful and tranquil. I agree with Spatial. What a setting for one of their inevitable deaths. I loved the moment at the end where Snake was stading to full salute by The Boss' grave and it read "A True Patriot". Very touching and emotional moment. You could even see a tear rolling down Snake's cheek. Brilliant.
I can't praise this game enough. Simply fantastic. PAL Game of the Year? Quite possibly.
Anyway, now I'm off to find and shoot all those damn frogs.

Metal Gear Solid 3 just grabbed me from start to finish, once it introduced the bosses every encounter I had with each of them was superb.Really did feel to me like you were having a good guy vs bad guy stand off in every one of them.
As for the final fight, that gives you a different feeling, its just awsome.
The Boss fight I just can't praise it enough, the tension is brilliant and I also loved the time limit on it, puts you under a bit of pressure to get the job done quicker, but you don't want to. Then when you finally do it, you almost feel bad, such a touching scene generally.
I also really enjoyed the part with Ocelot on the plane after the boss, that was cool, I really thought if I picked the wrong gun i was a gonna be a time paradox.
Also Chosen One666
If you press R1 when he does the salute you can go into 1st person, look around the graveyard and down at your feet, thought there maybe something around you to spot but I missed it if there was.
Metal Gear Solid 3 is my personal fave of the trilogy.

The Boss fight is one of the greatest moments in gaming. Emotional, dramatic, intense, beautiful... awesome. The ending is a choker. As has been said, when Snake salutes The Boss' grave, if you press R1 you can see though his eye... and it goes blurry with tears.
Makes you realise his motives for betraying his government.

I was worried that reaching the end of this game it wouldn't have the effect on me that I have read about...
I am actually struggling to find words to explain how good this has been!! The End scenes, bringing the story together totally blew me away. I just sat on the floor and took it in the whole time the credits rolled.
A ****ING masterpiece!!

Did you finish it then? Nice one
The end is just superb, IMO...I cannot fault it
You knew your mission right from the start and the whole game revolved around Snake knowing he must kill his mentor and friend. But it still came as a shock when it happened. By the end of the game when all the facts had come out I have to admit it, I was just totally into it...I loved every second of it
The end of the game was just told so well. So emotional, and just so maturely executed...Konami have shown the industry how to make a mature (in the REAL sense of the word) game. iirc there wasn't a single joke during the end sequence and that really surprised me

Done mate... and I am sad it is over!! I am frustrated I cant explain how good this game has been for me!! Everything it does and the way it does it is just perfect!!
I loved the little bit after the end scene telling you what happened after the mission... the bit where it says Big Boss sons born... shivers all over... so cool!!
The End fight was great!! Sadly I leathered her in under 2 minutes using CQC, stun grenades and my Tranq gun so missed the music cutting in... will need to get it on again to see it

I was refferring to Liquid and Solid being born from Big Boss made me shiver when seen it... so cool!!
But the son of Boss and The Sorrow is never really revealed... I thought it was Snake... but not sure whether it physically took place or not (The scar slides away)... any concrete theories on this welcomed.
Story as a whole is untouchable!!

And I have to agree, Snake Eaters last 4-5 hours are wonderful.
When it all kicks off in Groznaj grad it is fantastic. Pure gaming heaven... From the torture room right through to the end credits... an amazing ride!!
What codes message reveals this? Thought they would have made a revelation like this REALLY clear!! Thought it may have been Eva or Ocelot but Snake seemed like the logical choice becuase of his link to The Boss.
I beat The Boss in around 2 minutes using CQC, stun nades and Tranq gun. Wore down her Stamina gauge 8) missed the music cutting in so gonna have to play it againnot a problem!!

This can be learned by comparing two conversations in the game. The
first happens fairly early in the story, and must be gotten from a secret radio
conversation between Snake and EVA. To access it, continually call EVA while
in the cave after you beat Ocelot. You'll also have to pick up the torch
before Snake will ask her about Ocelot. It takes a lot of calling to reveal
the conversation, but what EVA tells you reveals a lot.
In the radio conversation, Snake asks how Ocelot could obtain the high position
of major in the elite unit of the Ocelots. Snake says that Ocelot "can't be
any older than 18 or 19. I can't believe he's already a major." EVA explains
that from what Colonel Volgin has told her, Ocelot gets "special treatment"
because "he's the son of some legendary hero or something." Snake asks who the
mother and father are, but EVA doesn't know. However, she does know that
Ocelot's mother gave birth to him on a battlefield. Also, she tells Snake that
"when they stitched [Ocelot's mother] up, the scar was shaped like a snake."
The second conversation isn't really a conversation at all, but rather a
soliloquy from The Boss. This comes at the end of the game, right before you
battle her. This isn't hidden, so you don't have to worry about trying to get
it, as she'll tell you the speech automatically.
The Boss tells Snake that "in June of 1944, the Cobras and I took part in the
landing at Normandy... I was pregnant at the time. The Sorrow was the father.
I gave birth on the field of battle. A beautiful baby boy. But my child was
snatched away from me by the Philosophers." The Boss unzips her jump suit to
show Snake a snake-like scar going vertically down her torso-- proof that she
was a mother.
When you put these two pieces of information together, it's pretty easy to see
that Ocelot is the long lost son of The Boss. It also seems that neither
Ocelot nor The Boss knew who the other was.
