EDIT: Oh also, Licenses officially suck now. I can't believe I had to sit there going through B license for an hour before getting into the game proper. It's really silly now, plus, 16 parts for each one, thats just wrong!
the licence test are a part of the game, as its a racing simulator, in real life i guess you'd have to do a test to race anyway.
i've just done the licence tests again and it didn't bother me as the tests are different to previous games anyway

I'm not bothered doing IB and above, but B and A are just silly I think.

I'm not sure if i'm going to keep this anymore, I've had my rush of doing my licenses and buying a Skyline, but now i'm bored of it all. Is a great looking game, shame I can't get into it.

Since I already had 25% done and Endurance open, I won the El Capitan 200-miler to get the Toyota 88C-V. Slap in a stage 4 turbo and it's lightning - even outpaces the F1 car in 0-400 and 0-1000 tests and can top 250mph. The 88C-V is probably my favourite big-race car and you can use it to murder the opposition in loads more races after this one.
If you can't win that yet, you could always use the Deutsche TCC to get quick money and buy a GT-One and turbo that up. That'll set you back around 4.6m but the GT-One freaks out on me at speeds over 220mph (impossible to control).
Whichever you go for, make sure you put super-hard tyres on the back and hard on the front to avoid pitting - most of the AI cars pit once I think.

I find it a bit dissapointing that you cannot select (or at least see) which tyres the A.I. opponents use.
There should have been a rule that all cars have to use the same tyres and you can select which type.
Also, after some weeks of playtime, I find the A.I. to be quite annoying (again).
Every time something stupid happens, the questions pops up in my head why the developers did not make the A.I. capable of evading other cars properly.
It also makes the not-so-impressive collision physics stand out even more.
Especially in the Rally events the A.I. is a real pain. I know I?m (generally) not so good at rally games, but I know I shouldn?t get a penalty when the A.I. bumps into my car, and not the other way around.

yes, the AI isn't impoved. but how could it? i think the PS2 was already pushed to its limits with GT3 A-Spec.
most annoying for me is the much worse handling of the rally cars in GT4!
could someone please post some impressions from the new Logitch driving wheel!? how does it actually drive Balou, haven't you got one for your nice race setup?

The rallying is brilliant with the wheel. Foot down almost all the way round, just letting go to initiate a bit of lift-off oversteer into the next bend, ensuring you stay sideways as much as possible. If you over-do it you can end up pointing the wrong way, grinding to a halt with all four wheels spinning like mad. Cool.
I think the AI could have been better, but it only seems to annoy me when I'm losing
