GT4 handles much differently to GT4P. It's a lot more controlable.

It does drop frames, resulting in a low/high resolution fight at certain parts of the game. Mainly before the races, but sometimes in the race too.

Yup, I have had tearing at times too.. Very slight and rare, but it occurs.

The visuals doesn't bother me knowing now that the handlings been changed. My interest just rose 10 points.

Instead we've got the usual 20 versions of Skyline GT-Rs, Lancer Evos, and Subaru STIs. For cack sake man what's going on?

Edit: Sorry, how could i forget the 205 GTi. Something is very wrong here.
But we do have such cracking European cars as the Jaguar E-Type, Audi's S and RS range, several Golf GTI's, the 190E Mercedes, and something called an Aston Martin DB9. We also have a ****load of American muscle and a drag strip to prove them on.

You're also forgetting that all that's come so far is the Jap release, and the Ployphony are known to include different cars for each region's release.

It's doubtful we'll get Porsche or Ferrari, but we might get some "Essex-boy" chav-specials like the Cosworth's, RS Turbo's, Saxo VTS, Renault 5 GT Turbo, and 205 GTI's yet...

Oh and I'm certainly hopeful to see the Exige in Europe. I suspect it may be a UK only model though, which is why it's never been big in any other GT games. There is an S1 "Motorsport Elise" which is basically an Exige anyway on the Jap GT4 though.

              Have faith!

Heh. I was having a battle with a 205 t16 in my awfully set up skyline 400R when I rammed sideways into the back of him and he properly spun out, left for dead. I don't remember being able to do that in GT3.

Damnit, don't know whether to buy it or not still. Kind of put off by foreign language but want it so much... but you lot don't seem to be having a lot of problems? I was just concerned about upgrades etc. and not knowing wth I'm doing to the cars.

Is Lik-Sang's still the definitive translation atm?

Actually ignore that I might as well wait for the US version, I've got essays to do this month!!

*breathes in through teeth* I'm not sure mate.

I think it might be worth hanging on further and buying the European release, which will surely see the best version. Bug-fixes, more cars, and maybe, just maybe another manufacturer or 3.

This is the best I've found: http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=52733, pretty much explains every screen.

Just raced a Renault 5 Turbo in my skyline round Citta de Aria reversed, amazing!!

Mate to be honest i had GT3 in Japanese when i knew no Japanese at all. I would say you don't need to be able to read Japanese at all really to play GT in Japanese, it ain't Final Fantasy and even that's still playable when you don't know any Japanese. As for reading the menus and cars i find it easier being able to read Japanese and knowing what i'm doing, but it's not essential, you can manage.

Adjusting car settings may be a problem but that's about all i had trouble with in GT3. It's up to u whether you buy it or not, but i only have a Japanese machine anyway so that choice for me is already made up

O and use will power if your tryin to resist, i still don't own a PSP

                        Just one more question:
Can you lock up the tyres when braking very hard? Do all cars still have ABS enabled all the time?
You can turn ABS and TCS off but i never have so not sure about wheels locking.

Its perfectly fine in Japanese. I know one or two (literally) words in Katakana, save, load, replay, and option, and everything else I have no clue what it means. I have played every GT game since GT2 in Japanese and have never encountered any problems. GT4 has more Japanese in it than GT3 I think, and its still fine. Use the GT Planet translation guide, it takes 5 seconds to look at the page you want and you'll know everything you need to it.

I now know my way around the entire game, with only a few setups which I'll look at the guide for. Even Photo Mode in fully Japanese I know every option - basically from messing around and getting results I wanted.

Do it, its easy as pie and such an amazing game!

Hmm... it is difficult to make that kind of generalisation though with a game as big as GT4. Entry requirements to manufacturer events, for example, or the pages of information about the cars. There is a barrier there, just not a very big one I've had trouble with the USB memory cards I have, the PS2 won't save to either on them but I've no idea why 'cos the error is in Japanese (kanji). That said, it will export to the printer memory and print (looks great on photo paper!).

I'll probably buy an English release too

So anyway, other than me not being able to import my licenses (it says the prologue save it corrupt but it isn't; weren't there two revisions?), I'm enjoying it (it imported by GT3 stuff OK!). Handling seems more balanced and there is plenty to see and do. There is a much more lively feel to the game, probably the inclusion of driver and more humans dotted around. There is a nice, fun presentation to it all in exploring the options and messing around.

I've had a play with B-Spec and I kinda enjoy that. It is easy enough to get the hang of and if you don't want to participate in an event, B-Spec it and see if you can win that way AI still feels a bit stagnant but there is at least some level of response. It is quite hard to tell in the lower speed events. B-Spec AI can be frustrating because it seems to take next to no risks at all, being quite well behaved.

I've been running it in 420p, it's crystal sharp and looks amazing. I thought 1080i was too fuzzy overall. It also draws in a slightly smaller screen too. It doesn't seem to have the same kind of resolution increase as something like an Xbox 1080i game. I'm a little disappointed there but I've no reason to be 'cos it still looks the mutt's nuts. 720p would have been nice, maybe GT5 huh?

Is your USB pen drive formatted properly? Are you a Mac user? If you're, you have to format it so its compatible with PC and Macintosh, otherwise it wont work. I formatted mine so its compatible with OSX/OS9 and Windows. A long shot, but make sure its formatted properly..

There is always GT Planet if you're stuck though, theres an extensive guide there.

A proper 1080i Xbox is running 1080i, whereas GT4 isnt. 480p does look very nice though, I must say.
