Really, really enjoyed this game, it so, so different in scale and scope in the 10+ years I played games, I think I won?t be able to put my Ps2 away. I shot through all the bosses only coming up short on the final 2,

but c15 took a while, I could figure out how to stab his hand even after I had made him drop his sword, never thought about hairy palms ><; still it was easy compared to c16, I could easily get to his right hand but could figure out what to do next, only after I got annoyed after 40 mins of try I stab the hand and to my surprise he reacted to it setting me up for the shoulder, which took me a while to remember i had a bow and then it was simple matter for shooting the shoulder and then scale it head for the win.

After my first failed attempts at c16 I went of wandering around for these lizards and fruit, which had not noticed at all, but I did an adventure trip around the bottom left of the map, finding a path down to the beach, nothing down there sadly but I ended up jump in to the waves and to my surprise he reacts to them, bracing for the wave and then if it to much for him push him back into a roll.

Heading back up the path and past the sand cave boss I ended up on some planes dotted with pond, I only got off agro after spotting some new wild life, a couple of turtles (at a go and eating them but the kept curling up) and then saw some movement in the water, to my surprise there was 5-6 huge fish in there, sadly I could hunt them the bow wouldn?t penetrate the water and you can?t swing a sword in the water but did manage to surf one after it surfaced and ended up standing on it.

I would have like a few more platforming bits to the game that offered nothing but the thrill of the climb and kickass view, so far I?ve only found few, one being in the a forest north west of the Tower, there nice bit with a lake below which I thought was inaccessible with a tree over hanging the cliff with fruit on it, which would fall below if shot, I looked around and found a moss ?ladder? to use to get down, and to my surprise the lake was just a couple of feet high swamp, lovely little find.

Liked the ending to, had that grim fairly tail ending. I had feeling that killing the Colossus was wrong, especially after the second ?cow? colossus, it just looked so harmless, but I soon forgot that during the fight after the great music kicks in after you climb up on top of it, and it son back after felling the great beast.

And that feeling certainly came true, the colossus we?re trying to stop me releasing the dormin full power and wander?s selfishness ignored the glaring evil spewing from the dead colossus, took me a while to spot wander?s change in looks to. Seems obvious this is a prequel to Ico, as this seem?s to the start of the Cursed Children (horned kids), that will someday hundreds of year?s from SofC be used by the Queen to make Dormin, and while Wander won?t atone for his sin?s in his life time, we all know Ico atones for his Ancestor?s sins. I hope they make another different game that links the time period between SofC and Ico, the story is to interesting to leave alone.

Just killed number 4, am absolutely loving this game. Even just wandering about exploring is lovely. Am determined to shoot down one of them Hawks though...........

Those hawks provided me with the key moment that showed me how great the in-between sections of the game are - I just love how they fly alongside you as Agro hits a full gallop.. makes it all feel very 'free'

I managed to get a copy of Ico only 2 days before the PAL release of SotC and I`ll have to say, even though it is like 4 years old it still looks stunning and was a joy to play.

Been a keen games player, I had heard of Ico but didn`t know enough about it to make me want to track it down but, I did keep my eye on what was happening with SotC a few months prior to its PAL release and

in interviews with the staff they claim that SotC is nothing to do with Ico at all.

I agree with you Tobal and I think SotC is most certainly is a prequel to Ico. I really do hope that there will be a third game maybe telling the story of what happened to Ico when he escaped from the temple or of another horned boy/man who manages to break the curse.

Also a little tip I found out by accident with regards to the lizards. If you managed to pin them by the tail, they will wriggle free and leave the tail behind. Eat the tail to increase stamina of course but, if you leave and return to the spot where you pinned the lizard later on, it won`t have died but will have grown a new tail.

Just read the first ten or so pages of this thread and all the things that you can do that aren't in the manual is shocking! Wish I'd known before I'd started playing I guess it will make the next play through on Hard even more fun though...

Agreed, there are a fair few extra things not mentioned in the book. When I finished the game on normal, I did it without getting and lizard tails but I`m sure they`ll come in handy on hard mode.

Also there is a handy move that I found by accident that isn`t noted. It isn`t really a spoiler so I won`t hide it but if you are jumping or falling towards your opponant, press R1 and square, Wander will do a downward stab.

When time is at a premium and you are jumping onto a colossi weak spot, rather than jump on it, grab on and set yourself up for a stab, instead jump and downward stab for a little extra damage before you get settled in for some proper damage inflicting stabbing.

No way!!! I was thinking it was a shame you couldnt do that! Somebody should do a manual on this game!!

To unlock the 17th colossus, beat all 4 modes. Then, climb the outside of the temple to the secret garden. The 17th colossus will appear in a short cutscene like the other colossi, smashing the rear wall. After you fight him, the path to the very top of the temple will be opened, leding to a very "special" surprise.
Just read this from a very early page, it is bollocks but wouldn`t it be nice? I NEED MORE COLOSSI!!!!

I`ve just started time attack and it`s good fun. I need another 10 seconds though to beat the 16th colossus. I get there with loas of time to spare but he just shakes about so much attack oppertunities are rare. I`ll do him in a bit

It`s odd but I don`t know where I stand on this issue as I can see it from both sides, both players side and the games maker. When you get an instruction book these days they tell you bugger all and there are loads of things missed out.

What I do these days is play the game through a couple of times to get as much as I can out of it and then read an FAQ or visit sites like this one to see if there is anything that I`ve missed.

I do feel a little cheated by the games makers when the don`t give the full info as I feel that I`m missing something and by the time I`ve leaned about it, I don`t usually have the will to play through the game again for a 3rd or 4th time.

I supposed from the game makers point of view they believe that it keeps you playing to discover all the secrets the game has to offer which is fair enough in some restpects but, when it is something as basic as the SotC sword stab move I would expect to be told about it. I found it out on colossus 15, too bastard late!

Another recent example (recent for me anyway) is the mace/lightsabre quest on Ico. I`d have never found out about that in a month of Sundays although I suppose I wouldn`t expect to read about that in the game manual.

Atleast tell us the moves you bastards!!

the key is to climb off his head after a large attack, and stab his shoulder again, this will set he head straight again for another large stabbing, repeat till dead.

That`s interesting Tobal, cheers for the info. Have you used this method on time attack?

while trying to run and grab on to agro while he was next to mono, i grabbed on to one of those doves. he didn't get high enough to fly off though, i found it midly amusing. haha
