you have to wack them with the sword, then press o to pick them up. you have to use your bow to get the fruit out of the tree and press o to pick that up to. btw dont bother with the black lizards, they do nothing. only the ones with the white tales.

Also, don't go through the game normally on the same save file if you started but haven't finished time attack. You'll have to go through some of the time trails you already beat to get the rest of the items.

Got this on Friday and played it most of the weekend.
OK. First of all, I don't think this game touches Ico, and I'd say that for this title, the team's ambition clearly outweighed their achievements in many respects. It's not that I think SotC is a bad game (far from it), but it is flawed.
Technical issues first, I don't know if the NTSC version is any better (even though I obviously run my PAL version at 60Hz), but the framerate is horrible. I haven't seen such choppiness in a very long time. Also the pop-up is pretty shocking as well. Generally, I'd say Ico has the edge visually as well, SotC has many moments of genuine beauty, but the environments (esepcially on the open field) are featureless, bland and very washed-out (they overdid the haze effect this time...).
Controls. Argo makes for a very clumsy, sluggish steed. Accidentally run into an obstacle and you have to S-L-O-W-L-Y reverse and rotate the horse before continuing. I also don't understand why even they opted for the rotational control scheme for the horse.
Anyway, enough griping, the good points are that it share's Ico's atmosphere and like that game, has a way of drawing you into its world. Like many have said, I really felt for the Collossi I felled (6 so far), all except number 4, a fight that turned out to be an exercise in frustration. Number 5 has been the best fight of the game so far.
I'm looking forward to putting in more hours tonight, but have a feeling the game won't take all that long to finish. I'm sure there may be incentive for at least one second play through though.
Oh, and does anyone else try to outrun the black tendrils that spew from the fallen Collossi? Has anyone managed to do it? Is it even possible?Last edited by Ady; 20-02-2006, 16:24.

I've run into sunlight and tried zapping it with the sword lightbeam, dived into water, even jumped off a cliff once i think?
I recall very little, if any, popup in the NTSC U/C version.

I have to agree that whilst this game is stunningly beautiful and has big vision, there's very little substance behind it. I killed collosi eight through ten in about an hour today, racking my total playtime so far up to just six hours - and that includes a bit of mindless wandering around to drool at the scenery, chuck myself off really really high things, as one does
I read other people voice their disappointment at the lack of any really involved platforming and I have to agree. Climbing and conquering the scenery would have been a breathtaking and genuinely satisfying experience whereas, so far, it doesn't feel much of an achievement when I down a colossus. It's all too easy.

I think the first playthrough of SOTC is a mere appetiser, hard mode is where its at. An already great game just gets better with the battles becoming more intense and exciting.
Anyone managed to reach the secret garden yet?

This is the game is I kept my PS2 for, otherwise I would of gotten rid of it ages ago. Truly stunning....the sheer epic scale of the colossi...climbing and conquering one of the feels like doing a whole level itself. The graphics are a sight to behold and the dramatic music that plays just adds to the atmosphere. Great game.

Played up to the final foe (
kept falling of its furry hands
) over the weekend and yesterday. What a simple game. Stripping a quest down to just the boss encounters and a basic horse riding sim was not what I was expecting at all. What a genius idea though. All that time spent in the saddle pays off when being chased across the sand by a bug eyed serpent made out of rocks. Plus the bond that forms between you and 'Pedro' is impressive. I actually felt guilty after taken him off a jump that left him hobbling or finding safe ground and leaving him under attack. Not as guilty as taking down the first few Colossi though - it just seems so wrong slaughtering these giant beasts when they pose so little threat.
I'd heard peeps going on about emotional attachments in Ico, but never really felt such a thing as strongly as in SOTC.
When 'Pedro' fell I had to take a moment
Looking forward to finishing this tonight so I can read some of the other posts on here. Can't believe is almost all over >_<
