I know you're being sarcastic, but to be brutally honest with you, that is actually what you'll be feeling once you play, because that's how I feel now!

I just broke myself away from an AWESOME session with Model 3, Mikimasa, Gumsy.....then took a break, came back and had another INCREDIBLE session with Mikimasa, OutRun 2006, V Racer, VaHara and some other dude.

    Listen to me carefully......

V.R. and Model3 I know where you guys are coming from with having catchup off. A room full of very very skilled players will no doubt yield a vast amount of enjoyment from a "catchup-less" game. But you must understand that being that I am not at that skill level yet, I can appreciate "OutRun 2" and the rest of the Japanese players having it turned off. It really does feel good knowing that even if you have a catastrophic crash, you still have a chance of at least finishing the race. Plus, it keeps the cars close, and that means plenty of neck and neck back and forth racing action(damn that sounded pornographic didn't LOL?).

I can't explain how much I appreciate AM2's decision to allow cars to grind and collide against each other without too much loss of speed. It really really REALLY makes the race an adrenaline rush! It is almost EXACTLY the way cars rubbed against each other in the original Daytona USA! Remember having those 4-8 player link-up races in the arcade and how'd you'd be rubbing fenders Hornet to Hornet?

Well that was one of the things that made me REALLY love the multiplayer of that game....and yes, almost every arcade operator had catchup turned on in their arcade.

That is exactly what Coast 2 Coast reminds me of. It's quite evident AM2 took a page out Daytona USA's multiplayer book and the result is good 'ole close, neck to neck, fender to fender racing.

Give catch up and collision on a try and I'm sure you'll see where I'm coming from.

When I reach pro-skill level, perhaps I'll favor catchup off over on. Doesn't really bother me though

PSP version is still surprisingly easy to find a game online with!

Just played a non-catchup race and obliterated absolutely everyone in a full grid.

S0L, I need you to understand...

I need you to understand how much I appreciate the work you guys have done tweaking the online multiplayer code for Coast 2 Coast and getting at the level it's at. I mean seriously. I was racing several people tonight, from model 3 to the regular Japanese guys, to a couple guys from Europe, and I could not believe what I was experiencing in my own home!!!!!!

Words cannot describe what it's like to be in a race 6 peeps deep, all jockying for position and being able to have their cars so close to yours without any kind of noticeable lag. Mind you, there is sometimes a wee WEE bit of lag here and there, where you can see the cars shake a little, but my goodness mate, the overall online experience is like having multiplayer linkup at home(at least on my connection).

Maybe it's because I just switched from having a 1.5mb DSL connection for years, to getting a 8mb Comcast connection just a few weeks ago. No, it can't just be that....it's definitely a result of the fantastic work you guys did getting the net code down pat. I didn't get a chance to play the first OR2 with you guys online, but from I've heard it wasn't so hot. So it was only expected that Sumo would try to improve upon the net code. But I must say, you guys have done a magnificant job mate.

If the PC version's online code is as tight as this, I'm gonna cry!

There's only one small issue S0L and I'd like you guys to address it....

For the love of God can you please look into releasing a downloadable patch that fixes the frozen animations online? 99% of the time I race online, the animation in all of the SP stages are frozen. No waterfalls, no laser lights, no meteor shower, nada! I don't mean to be anal about this but you know how I feel about Sega's trademark animations mate. It drives up the wall everytime I enter Milky Way and see the meteor shower stuck in the "Matrix".

S0L If you can't fix the Xbox version, whatever you do PLEASE tell the guys who are working on the PC version to make sure this doesn't happen.

Thanks for listening and thanks for an awesome game mate!

You what? I never found a game in the first three weeks of playing it, so I stopped trying.

That's a bizarre statement... the PS2 is still going strong on software sales, and for the record I bought the PS2 version.

              Weird.

I always host my own sessions and within the first 10 seconds, someone joins.

Play a 1 vs 1 race and when I come back the lobby's usually full.

              Fancy a try sometime today?

I love this game to little tiny pieces but it looks a little **** for me cuz i only got an LCD tv now and i'm running it via RGB scart. Also i can't get on Live anymore with my xbox1 (long story but the bottom line is i can't) SO please please please someone make Microsoft update the 360 BC list with this game. It would just own being upscaled and i can then enjoy the MP.

The game does look a bit jaggy because of the lack of FSAA, but it doesn't really detract - I'm enjoying it to bit, even if my eyes are bleeding. Has convinced me to preorder the PC game though.

Here's a wierd thing I've been wondering - does Outrun2 not have quite the same reputation on the other side of the atlantic? I've been speaking to a few of my American Sega-loving friends, who I kinda assumed would appriciate a title like this... but they just didn't understand my emphusiasm for the title, or Outrun2 that. "The original game on the Master System was great though" was one comment. Didn't know what to say =/
Surely Outrun2's reputation of being under-appriciated quality isn't just a Euro thing? Would explain the the questionable reviews it's been getting over there. Even GameSpots 8.0 takes the piss when you consider the titles that have recieved higher.

Everyone underappreciates OutRun2 / 2006. It's a massive shame, too. Most of my friends play Burnout instead and laugh as I play "That game with the **** handling."

There are a strong element of Burnout fans who think Outrun is crap. I've met loads of them on Live. When I say I like Outrun2 they always say stuff like " Outrun is pretty poor mate, Burnout destroys it! "

I remember when the origianl demo came out. Lot's of people I played said the demo was pretty good, but there was no way they would pay full-price for the game.

I personally dislike the Burnout series after no2. The games aren't racers, and feel like a new genre ' car combat ' .... I can understand why people like this new style of car action, but I just don't enjoy the mayhem and lack of tight gameplay.

Outrun2006 is my game of the year, if not decade!

Hmm, I'm in two minds whether to get this or not. I like OutRun 2, but I'm really, really, really arse at it. I'm guessing it'll be the same for Coast2Coast?

                        Comment

C2C is easier. Less harsh on the traffic smashing.

                            Go for it mate.
It's not that it's 'easier' per say, it's just that you don't have to be quite the expert player to get fun out of this title because of the way it's constructed.

As much as I love Outrun, I'm not much cop - I'm fine on the easy routes, but no good at the hard ones. But the Coast2Coast mode in this game makes it so that this is not a factor. I genuinely think people who were really **** at Outrun2 will still be able to achieve a lot in this title simply because of the structure and layout of the C2C mode.
There's no 'hard route' or 'easy route' in C2C mode, but rather a series of predetermineds route which are more balanced in difficulty.
Of course, traditional Outrun mode is still there for the purists.

The key thing about this title is that everything earns you Outrun points. Even if you loose, every Outrun mile goes towards your points which you use to unlock the unlockables. There's genuine reward in playing this title, even if you don't finish the course.

And as above poster says, the game is less harsh when you crash anyway.

anyone else having problems linking up their PSP to the PS2?

I keep getting "psp not found error" and i seem to be doing everything right. Its a US PS2 game to US PSP but both on UK systems.
