Rumble does not seem to work for me using the 360 pad - is this correct, or is it to do with the drivers I'm using?
EDIT - One nice little thing I noticed was that when running the game on the second monitor (in a multi monitor setup), you can still see the main screen (so, for example, an MSN window). When you click the other screen, it basically minimises the game to the task-bar, and you just click the game when your done answering that MSN messege. Nice.Last edited by sj33; 23-06-2006, 18:36.

If there is just a code to unlock the PSP/PS2 linkup stuff that would be better for me, does such a code exist SOL? if so how about a hint!

I checked on that the other day - it was in originally - but was removed late in the day. Only way to unlock the cars is to do a link-up - or use the ENTIRETY cheat.
If you want the cars for online, create a new profile - it only affects the profile you are on (as I remember anyway).
There's no rumble or force feedback in the PC version - so it's not something you've done wrong. Don't ask me why, I'm wasn't involved with the PC version.

I picked up the PC version today. Nice and sharp (aside from the super low-res and texture compressed HUD) but some nasty nasty bugs in there spoiling the experience.
The main problen I have is sound drop outs. The sound will completely cut out for about 1/3 of a second, and it will do this every 10 seconds or so. No idea why as I don't have any problems in other games.
The other problem I had was with installation. Attempting to change the installation folder from the default killed the installer with a .dll error every single time.
Other than that, it runs pretty well. 60fps most of the time at 1680x1050 with anti-aliasing. Most slow down I've seen so far is on the last stage - I forget the name of it, it's the one with the starfield and space shuttle. For some reason the game splutters all over the place on that stage.
Gamepad support seems a little odd too. I set up all my buttons (on a Saturn 6 button USB pad) and it still wanted keyboard input for all the menu navigation...?
And last problem - The engine noise is super quiet, so quiet it's barely audible over the music. I guess there's a menu option for this, I'll have to look.
Are there plans for a patch SOL? Could be a real keeper but the sound bug is a killer for me at the moment.

Just begun playing it, fantastic stuff, it looks absolutely gorgeous in 1440x900 on my MacBook Pro. There's a problem though - pending my purchase of a 360 wired pad, I'm using an old USB -> PS2 pad converter, but I can't seem to alter the control config to allow me to use L2 and R2 as my accellerate and brake buttons, it forces me to use an axis for those controls, and then won't accept my use of L2 and R2, even though I have assigned them to accellerate and brake too.
Could someone help me with this?
/me looks at S0L ;p

Grr this game just reminded me why I hate PC gaming - lamer Securom CD 'protection' punishing me for buying a genuine copy of the gameby forcing me to insert the disc, while the priated ones come pre-cracked.
Just wanted to save myself the hassle of inserting the disc everytime (since all the data is on the HDD anyway) by using Daemon Tools - no-go.

Cracked .exes are the way to go.

Neko - Have you tried updating your sound card drivers? I don't think they were doing anything clever with the sound, and the fact it's cutting out probably isn't we've done, you just tell DirectX to play the sound and it plays... Give it a go.
Pad wise - it should take all the inputs from the controller you have defined, but I'm not sure if you also have to define the menu controls somewhere in the list.
Randicoot - No idea on the Pad converter. It maybe that sometimes the way the converters work is it puts the shoulders on one Z axis. Without seeing it I wouldn't know, maybe playing with the setup of the converters drivers? It does work fine with a 360 pad - though it did require some special code.
Copy Protection - well personally I like to not require the CD to play, but we go on the publishers decision. It's there to prevent casual piracy I suppose.

Nope, doesn't have the required Pixel and Vertex shaders. So you need to either upgrade to a 6200 (?40) or a 6600GT (?80). I'd go for the latter - for the price of a couple of games you'll see a big leap for everything else you play...
Or you could buy an ATi card - here so I don't get accused of card favouritism... :P
