I have to say I'm enjoying this much more than Outrun 2, mostly because the traffic is much less frustrating. In Outrun 2 it was way too harsh in my opinion, countless times I have crashed because a vehicle suddenly changed lane or popped up around a corner. In C2C this also happens but atleast it doesn't make me grind to a full stop all of the time.
Other than that, I also prefer the more twitchy handling and all the little touches like the end of stage animations. So, thanks Sumo, for bringing this to us .

I have one question though, do you get any special rewards for beating the missions? Or is it just for the outrun miles? Also, are the OR versions of the cars in the single player mode made by Sumo or were they also in the arcade game?

Samsung Drive , Crystal X-Box MFG Date: 2004-09-17.

Could it be a Hard Drive cache issue ? . It can't be the drive or the console (I hope) I only got it last year brand new , and every other game works fine

Y R U hoping people get the PSP version? It is clearly the most inferior version. Don't get me wrong I'm getting all versions just to support Sumo. But I can't believe people are approaching this as "Playing OR2 on the bog or at the supermarket is a tantilizing prospect!"

A game like this deserves to be played at home, on the big screen, and for hours upon hours upon hours each day, in long term gaming sessions....not in short bursts on the bog. The PC version is coming out and is going to be the GREATEST looking Sega port in the galaxy!! How the hell can you justify playing on a 5" screen at 30fps on an analog nob, versus playing with a true force feedback wheel, in hi-res 1284x720p, at a rock solid 60fps with FSAA, AS, HDR, and any other graphical effects you can think of?

The PC version is gonna eat all other version for breakfast and go back for sloppy seconds!

How many players does this handle on XBL now without lag occuring?

The original Outrun2 was tough on xbox drives. Lot's of people complained about track disappearing and skies turning white etc... The main issue was with the FMV, which stuttered on quite a few peoples machines.

I thought my machine was o.k, but OR2 gave me the above issues, so I traded the machine in, and the new one had no problems at all.

I guess Outrun2SP is also hard on the drive ( for whatever reasons ) and it's causing your problems. Looks like you need a new drive, or machine!

Yeah.. mine was a Thomson. I now have a Phillips-Type2.

It seems strange that you are experiencing the same problems I and many others had with the original Outrun2 when we got it. Maybe your machines drive does have a problem, because if the first game was demanding on the drive, this new version probably is too!

I hope you resolve the problem, or maybe it really is a case of bad-luck!

Damn straight! the tuned Testy, GTO and GTS are all absolute monsters on the road. They're my go-to cars of the moment too

The tuned cars are indeed a great test of skill (particluarly the pro models) though I find the non-tuned cars a bit more satisfying to drive. the way they slip in and out of drifts is just sublime!

Had a really good sesh this after noon with some chaps. I was sceptical when the onyl people online wanted to play without collisions but it's actually really good still. Combining pure time attack racing lines with slipstreaming is really good fun!

So my PSP version dropped through the door at 8:30 this morning and i've been playing for half an hour. Here's some impressions for you.

I will warn you. The first thing that will hit you, if you're coming from the silky smooth console versions or the arcade version, is the fact that in most sections of the game, framerate is just less than half of the PS2 and Xbox versions.

Also the analog nub is incredibly twitchy.

                      DON'T PANIC.

Give it 15 minutes, turn the control sensitivity down, then give it time for all the differences to soak in. Then watch this happen.

The controls start to get much, much better as you get used to them, and the framerate problems, while still noticeable, don't get in your way at all.

Well done Sumo. How in gods earth you managed to pull this off on PSP is an absolute mystery. Apart from a few of the puzzle heart attack missions on C2C mode, i'm not seeing a single thing different. The music is all there, the cars are all there, everything's all there!

I too have been putting the PSP version through it's paces this morning. I concur with you Silvergun X that the frame rate does take a hit when compared to the console versions but like you say it is still an unbelievable game!

The graphc style is beautifully done - so much so that I often get distracted by what is going on in the background as opposed to looking at what I am doing!

There seems to be so much depth to it as well which pleasantly surprised me as I never really had Outrun 2 down as a game that had a lot of depth.

Easily the best racing game on the PSP IMHO as I prefer the Outrun style to that of Ridge Racer.

I found that I had to turn the sensitivity up by 2 notches. I use the d-pad though, not the hub. Its true though, you need about 15 minutes to get in tune with it. Great title. Now hopefully I'll be able to find some online players.
                            Kept you waiting, huh?

Well what i've gotten used to doing, is using the analog nub for driving normally, then using the d-pad to fine tune on the straights or come out of a drift that doesn't seem to want to stay still.

With the sensitivity down, the d-pad is quite slow which gives you those slight movements that are very hard with the nub.

You just need to install it on the HD.
