Just picked up the PSP version. My god you guys worked wonders! I got all giddy over the fact I was playin OR2 on a bloody handheld! How cool is that?

I must say the XBox version is DEAD all the time. Did everyone buy this on the PSP and PS2?

Also I have a question about the multiplayer ranking system SOL. About 2 weeks ago I was 7th? But I allowed a friend of mine to beat me 5 times, as they were over 100th and wanted to move up a bit (see how nice I am)? anyway ever since I?ve dropped right down the rank and can?t seem to get out of the top 80 odd. I am not really worried about Rank? but I can?t work out why I am not moving up. So I was wondering if you could shed some light on the system. How many points do I get for coming 1st or 2nd in a race? and do you lose points for not finishing?

The online rank is based on the ELO ranking system, so there are a few things to bear in mind.

First you won't get a lot of rank improvement by beating lower players (players with a much lower ELO rank than yours) - check their licenses to the see their win ratio to get an idea of what theirs is. The better the player you beat, the more your rank increases.

Second, you will be penalised by quitting a race - this knocks your ELO rating down depending on how many people were in the game when you quit.

Might shed some light on it

I've recently re-bought the XBOX and I've popped on some nights to see it dead, then never tried again that night, do you and RockP ever go back on?

It seems that most of the old regular players are doing other things right now. Gumsy and Wormy are playing something else, Shadow pops on and off but I think his 360 is grabbing some of his attention right now. I still see Spence and F40 on quite a lot but not late at night?

There are the usual foreign players like the French and the Japanese but they aren?t talking so much in fact they rarely put their Mic?s in? so when I do go on I usually only have maybe 5 games before quitting or playing on the scoreboards.

Its shocking how dead this game has gotten so soon.

It might be because people have their 360s networked and not their original Xboxes! Unless I buy another switch, the 360 is my only networked console!

Aye it's proper doing my head in, it was all good before I had no XBOX, now I've bought one just for live, it's dead on there...

GameStation have been recalling (not all) copies of the game too, to send back to SEGA for credit, which guess shows how badly it's sold...

This is horrible news I'm completely befuddled at how such an entertaining game could be so unappreciated.

I'm still plodding along on the outrun level flagman races and having a blast! I love the way that everything feels so good when you do it right. Priceless

I have been really busy lately, and I haven't had much time to play games, but I did notice Gumsy was playing the game quite a bit when it came out.

A week ago or so, when I finally had some time for a session, no one was playing. I sat waiting for an hour, not one person, no Americans, Japanese, or even Aliens were playing I sent you a message, as well as Chief H, but both of you were playing other games ( just my luck! )

I thought the game might sell well, or at least reasonably, but to hear it has sold poorly is pretty gutting. This is the best game so far this year, and one of the best games ever made, but unfortunately, as I said before when Outrun2 came-out.. " We live in dark times! "

I feel like gathering all my favourite magical games such as Outrun2SP, and finding a desert island live on. The massmarket casuals can have the videogame market all to themselves.

Jakeway I have been on LIve everyday for the past 5 days. It's a fantastic game. I am almost always on between 6am and 1pm YOUR time, meaning U.K. time(It's about 9:00pm in Los Angeles right now).

Guys add me to your list and look for around the times I mentioned.

                        Gamertag = Isamuu.

The problem is, someone will go online and see no one playing. So they'll create a match and wait a couple minutes. After only a couple minutes, they'll get discouraged and leave. I bet this happends all the time, hence why you don't see hardly anyone on. It takes patience...you have to create a match and wait for more than a few minutes. Trying waiting longer, like 20-30 minutes. That way someone will see you by chance and join. This starts a chain effect and more people will you and join.

Everyone here needs to post their gametags send friend requests to each other. That way instead of looking in the Optimatch, you can just look on your friends list and see who's playing Coast 2 Coast.

I'm not surprised of the low Xbox sales. The Xbox version was, in my opinion, released in very limited qualities. Sega figured the system is pretty dead, so they probably just made around 10,000 copies or so worldwide.

Oh well, the PC version(providing Sumo didn't cut corners this time), should be the definitive version to get. True Force Feedback and Hi-res FSAA graphics for the win baby.

So it has not sold well? I'm taking a wild guess here...it should have been made for the 360? or even have been able to have been played with a patch on the 360.

Most people who owned xbox's bought a 360..why would they go out and buy a game for a "old" system anyway?

Would people even buy it on the PS2 when it has become little more than a machine people buy copies of games on these days.

I presume the PSP version would have sold pretty well.

I still think its a great game, not a RR6, but still very good.

I'm in a state of nirvana, C2C is utterly beautiful and the driving experience sublime!

I'm at a loss for words!

Many thanks for bringing this to us SOL and co.

um... I'm sure microsoft would be well chuffed to have shifted 20 million 360s by now :P I doubt even 1 in 20 xbox owners has upgraded to a 360 yet, and if all PS2 owners only buy copies why do PS2 games occupy the charts constantly? :P

tho I am keen to know how well it's selling and what the chances of it being reduced anytime soon are (I paid ?40 for Outrun 2 only for it to be slashed within weeks of release, bein a student who's running very low on money I can't afford that to happen again otherwise I'd have bought it day of release)

Very true, I haven't seen it in any shop here (Netherlands) at all .

Edit: Harcore Gaming 101 did a nice article on Outrun recently.
