So, without reading the entire thread...is it normal for people to cheat? I'm facing someone who has the "100 matches" won achievement, yet it's my first ever online game and I'm 2-0 up, it's before half time and he's paused it.
The countdown I assumed was how long he has, has long expired and it's still "paused".
Let me guess, he's cheating, hoping I quit?
After filing a complaint, it occured to me...could the game have crashed? But then the console is fine, I was browsing friends lists etc whilst waiting. Eventually quit though because it's really not that important to me to have a win, what a lame thing to do if thats what he was doing.
So, two points I'd make :
1. If thats a bug that crashes the game whenever you pause online : it's a gamebreaker.
2. If its a method of cheating to gain achievements/stats : it's a gamebreaker. Why do the publishers insist on us playing ranked matches to gain achievements? 99% of people prefer to play their mates. Does it matter to the game's creators who we play? They've got our money, don't force us to play idiots in random ranked matches. The achievements are there for fun, the stats within the ranked mode are reward enough for people who care about them.
I find it hilarious you have to play 100 ranked matches yet to gain a different achievement in this game you can just create a tournament with 2 teams, put it on beginner, win and bam, 40 gamerscore right there.

As for player switching, you can set that to manual in the options... unless I have missed a vital part of this thread?
Button lag is the only issue I have with the game. Offline Master League is just fantastic and the gameplay is immense once you get use to the more in depth dribbling, passing and shooting controls. A massive step forward in terms of gameplay, now we just need the live to get sorted and its the whole package

Bleeders point about it changing player when you slide tackle has cost me many a goal - Highly infuriating.
I've actually noticed in a few recent games the command lag didn't seem so bad but still I don't enjoy this game that much and to be honest with SCDA online, COD3 online and GOW about to turn up and possibly THP8 this has got **** all chance of getting played.
I'll hang onto it for now in case this uber-patch arrives and things get better and primarily to play with a few mates online but that's it.

Originally posted by BleedersWell, the fundamental problem of button lag doesn't exist in the offline game, where as it's present in one form or another online.
The delay of the "Power Bar" for example, since there is absolutely no way how to determine how much power you've placed on the ball until a second after you've entered the command.
Defensive problems for me have come from the game switching players even when the auto-switching has been turned off. For example, I go in for a slide challenge using the nearest player to the opponent, only he hasn't done it, the CB has thus leaving him on his arse and the opponent a clear run at goal.
Basically, if you get a game where the button lag is less than a second, then consider yourselves lucky! It's a complete game breaker for me.
Regarding the power bar I'm really surprised you use it during open play. For me at least, I don't see why they even include it. I can honestly say that I've never needed to use it in non-free kick situations. I always learn the required button depress length very quickly.
I've only played Evo 6 offline and I still don't own it but I feel this is the best pro evo to date. Having played WE10 for such a long time I didn't find the big difference or "slap in the face" so many people were noticing at all. Infact, when I first played WE10 from Evo 5, despite having to re-adjust, I was 100% positive about the game from the off and appreciated the differences instantly. I feel the same way about Evo 6. It got my instant approval
Obviously, I'm not happy with the striped down version the 360 has and I've never liked pro evo on xbox live. Other then that, I can't wait to get my hands on this game now I've created some time to actually own it.

I take your point Jebus, and if you hate it then get rid.
But Pro Evo is a good game and has a lot of depth and takes time to master. So to only give it two hours and then make up your mind seem strange to me seeing as i'll spend 200+ hours over the next year trying to perfect every aspect of the game. If you want to beat every player with the dash and win games 6-0 then knock the difficulty level down.
But i'm not getting at you and i take your point you don't have the time to put into Pro Evo but before you totally gave up i just wanted to big up the game a little.Last edited by 1P_King; 13-11-2006, 15:54.

I just find everything from interface, graphics, sound and obviously gameplay far superior in Fifa, sorry, I know it's unpopular but it's how I feel.
Also, Pro Evo has nothing to make me want to give it longer. At least I tried it, whereas with Fifa a lot of people dismiss it without trying because it's EA. That was more what I was getting at to be honest. I'm also going on how I felt after a few hours of Fifa gameplay compared to a few hours of Pro Evo 6 gameplay.Last edited by Jebus; 13-11-2006, 15:33.

Been playing this for a while now but thought id give it a bit of time before commenting. Ive played the PES and WE series for many, many years now and normally every iteration is like a stout, gloved, slap to the face. Something that whilst initially shocking eventually becomes a breath of fresh air your very grateful for. Pes6 doesnt give you a short sharp slap but rather deicises to kick you in the nads, punch you in the face and call your mother a slag. Its a brutal, brutal reintorduction to a series that ive followed for years but i love it. More than ive loved any other version.
With every PES/WE i whack the difficulty up to maximum and try to win the world cup with England without re-loading after a loss. If i lose then its back to the beggining. After that i go straight onto ML on maximum difficulty. What is initially noticeable is that a player has to rely much less on pace. Its still there in the game but you have to use it more tactically as opposed to using it as a blunt weapon in previous versions. Whilst pace has been rightfully toned down slightly both power/strength and, more importantly, the significance of a players physical frame has been increased. Take Crouch for example, his stats arent the best, arguably he's under-rated, but his gangly frame causes problems for defenders who just cant get at him. Play the ball to him at shin hight and his close control and bizzare deft touch, stuff that he does in real life and is unique to him, is something to behold.
The reduction of pace as a key tool has changed the way ML is played. In previous versions id opt for players like Saha, Boa morte, Cisse, Martins, Ewerthon, Tavano etc but now since pace is less significant im looking for power/strength, shooting accuracy and technical ability. My first two ML sigings were King from Watford, a big strong striker, and Mcbride from fulham, a clever veteran. The whole way ive played has changed and konami have done well to keep me challenged so many years in.
ML is still the jewel within pes/we and for me its always a bit of fun to return to the hapless Castolo and his yearly change of haircut, marvel at huylens utter, utter rubbishness and cry at the fact that ximilex is the slowest, most rubbish left winger ever. On maximum difiiculty ML is one of the toughest tests in gaming. I still mourn the loss of Vornander to old age but i reckon im in a minority on that one. Libermann aint no replacement for the big man. One can only hope hes gone into a coaching role or something. Vornander Fan Fiction! something for the true pes fan.
The criticisms for me stem from the stuff left out of the 360 version. Its the little things like the lack of player ratings at the end of matches that hurt the most. I always liked finding out who my star player was. Overall though its another yearly slice of something special for this pes fan.

I couldn't find a single thing about Pro Evo that I preferred this time around. I think mine will be going in the for sale forum.
People not giving Fifa a chance are missing out big time, it's a FAR better game than this in my humble opinion.

Originally posted by Canton ProvinceTo be honest, I'm not quite sure how your relating your defense problem to online play as you haven't explained yourself at all (or do I have to read the whole thread?) As it stands, your comments could easily be applied to offline play as well, meaning offline isn't "fine".
Online it doesn't work. What Bleeders means is you cant defend because there is a delay between button presses and guys reacting to it so making any quick tackles, defensive re-shuffles or applying pressure is impossible as you end of controlling a different player to the one you think sometimes because of these delays.
Luckily I am right in about the Master League and always play it offline with mates so am getting everything I need from it just now. Until they tighten up the live play I wont be going near it either, which is disappointing.
On the whole though the game is amazing and some of the games last night with Chelsea V Barca and Chelsea V Man Utd were just superb. I love the more detailed dribbling, passing and shooting mechanics in the 360 version. You really need to do more to get the most out of players now and it just feels brilliant when you nail those moves and score some crackers!!

Online, it's completely broken, unbalanced, laggy and generally not a fun experience. I bet you half of the players some of you lose to, you wouldn't have done in a proper one versus one setting, since both players are on an even keel.
It doesn't seem to matter how you've got your team organised on this. Defending is **** so pretty much any of the mutant players like Messi, Eto, Rooney etc will dance through any defence even if you've got 10 protecting the goal it seems.
I'm at the point where I'm going to shelve this until the twats have vacated and moved elsewhere and Konami have bothered to fix the piece of **** online component.

I`ve already traded mine in at GameStation but if there are any significant improvements to the game via a patch I`ll maybe pick it up again.
I`ve never been as angry and frustrated with a game as I have been with PES6 online, it is ****ing ****e!
Pull yer finger out of yer arse, Konami, unless you are working extra hard on Silent Hill 5 then all is forgiven!
