I haven't got to the stage where you need to use it for anything specific yet so I'm not sure, but most Wii games make use of the speaker as a matter of course.

Here it's used for sound effects in

    fighting and firing arrows etc

    etc

What's worse is you can't alter the volume on the controller. I was looking for some sort of option where you could revert to in-game sound, seems it's forced down my throat.

Press the home button and go into the controller settings. You can set the volume there.

I've just finished my first session of Zelda. Not got very far yet, but it's really good so far. I'm not totally sold on the swinging the remote for combat thing yet, but it was starting to feel better. Even through nasty composite video, the game has a lovely atmosphere to it. Can't wait to see it in RGB.

Try looking in the Controller Settings - no really!

Is there any way to move the sound effects from the controller to the same channels that come through the television?

Just turn remote's sound to null from menu. It will automatically switch sound from remote to your television's speaker.

Yes, but then the sound effects are being cut which isn't my point. Is it a 'say goodbye to the sound effects' scenario or not for headphone users?

This is actually a really big deal for me. I can't have speakers on at the time I most game, tinny or otherwise. If other Wii games follow suit then it's a factor in my interest of the system.

                      Ah. You edited.

                      Cheers. Good news.

Glad to hear that, too. I'm always playing on Headphones at silly o'clock. Was worried for a while.

Screw you ya cheeky sod. Not like it was obvious the home button was of use during the game. Nothing was mentioned.

Well I've now decided to hook this up to my CRT downstairs and it looks a damn sight better in Composite - much more playable than on the LCD (naturally it's not as clear as Component but it'll do until I can get a cable).

Loving the control method the game uses - for me combat is so simple and responsive its great. Aiming works remarkably well and it all feels very intuitive.

There are so many little touches in this game that make it totally charming to play.

                            Like

                            petting and wrestling goats

(a new fetish perhaps?) and watching the guy

leg it into the water when the bees come

                            after him

I'm getting lost in this big time

And taurusnipple was right - seriously, Wolf Link is the business.

In fact the whole twilight world and its effects are lush. The music even sounds a bit like Silent Hill

Can I post in here when I get the cube version on my birthday in a couple of weeks? or is this thread strictly for the Zelda Wii lovers.

This is the only time I'll be in this thread till then.
