innit man, me and my flatmate tried to drag it out as much as possible and just do everything really slowly so as to try and see and do everything there was in the game. was proper gutted when we finished it the other day (game clock was on about 90 hours somehow, got stuck on that water temple for bloody days and were too proud to use a walkthrough)

i'm finding it hard to fault anything in the game really, i enjoyed pretty much every little bit of it. my only minor complaints are the slight lack of things to do/games and whatnot in hyrule town, the fact that they're still using midi for the music instead of orchestrating it (i thought the soundtrack on it was awesome but just was a bit let down by the ****ty sounding midi instruments- would love to hear an orchestrated version of the lake hylia music) and the slightly ****e textures in a few places are a bit annoying but other than that, another wonderous zelda experience

    well done nintendo

I'm surprised so many people are getting stuck on dungeon 3! I blazed through it in what felt like half an hour. Very enjoyable stuff, and all logically laid-out as far as I could see. The only thing that could stump you is those stalactites (i.e.: failing to spot them).

I haven't finished it yet, though, so maybe I'll have big problems with something you chaps found ridiculously simple.

took me several days to realise that

i was meant to hookshot onto that target above one of the sets of stairs that you normally hang onto those switches to move, so the water from upstairs would turn those water wheel things downstairs

. jigged hardcore around the living room once i finally figured it out!

only bit that properly had us stumped really

Ah! I remember that - spotted it by accident!

I personally think, this game has had the right balance throughout.. although we might all sometimes feel, "oh it was a bit easy here and there".
We forget how the majority of the matured gamers, we've become, are accustomed to certain formula's.

But that's what Zelda is for me, a formula that can try to test new ideals at times, e.g. Wind Waker (Cel shading, boat travel), Majora's Mask (Time influence).

I find that in most Zelda games, as soon as something because available to you, that item will be valuable when your in that area/dungeon.

Twili Princess tested new idea's, but still had the same Zelda feel, an unknown hero who strives to save the world.. that to me makes the experience v.enjoyable.
I found the Wolf scenario's difficult to understand the need at first, but gradually became to like the Twilight sections.

I'm glad they allow you to transform whenever you wish later on

People criticise Nintendo for repeating this "formula" with their IP's but to me it feels like they continue saga's with Mario, Link, Metroid etc because it works.

Who can honestly say they are fed up with Zelda games?
But more importantly, Twilight Princess gives something to games design, especially the Wii... and I think we should thank Nintendo for that.

The only bit in Twili that had me frustrated was the entrance to the temple of time... I didn't have my Master Sword selected!! and couldn't understand why it wouldn't go back into the stone!
And when I was in the temple, after receiving the Dominator Rod I didn't realise I could attack things as the statue, so moving through the dungeon was time consuming!

I completely agree - the difficulty was perfect for me - the game is so accessable (bar the initial cat\fish puzzle!) that the hours just fly by. I spent 40 hours on the story and none of it felt like a chore, which is so rare these days.

Likewise the Zelda mould is still very enjoyable. It's fun revisiting a familiar location in an unfamiliar setting, and also when we slowly collect those classic items we instantly know how they can be used. Very early on before I had access to Bombs I saw many rocks that I instantly knew were for that item - likewise clawshot etc. It's only some of the new items that changed the world in unexpected ways, adding layers of depth to areas I had previously taken little notice of.

The problem I have with them reusing this classic formula is that we know too much about the game before starting. We know many of the items, locations and weaponary and know their uses. The sense of wonder and adventure in a new world is lessened when much of the experience is like a checklist against previously known features.

It's difficult to know where they can head next - making the experience new but still essentially Zelda. But with the Wii and the team behind it I have nothing but full confidence in their ability. No other series has managed such a high standard, and I don't see them falling over any time soon.

I agree - Zelda is limited to set parameters in terms of its future, thats to say they continue with the same theme (who can blame them if they do, tried and tested etc).

As you say "high standard", and I believe that's what Nintendo IP is all about, although Mario Sunshine for the Cube wasn't as awe inspiring as Mario64.. but I can honestly say Mario Galaxy is getting me excited.

I feel this is what Nintendo can achieve, the Wii has brought new plains for the gaming market. I'm an old gamer, but I can imagine what it must feel like for say a new gamer playing Zelda:TP on their Wii, exhilarating?!

I was talking to a good friend about the Wii, before it came out, and he was convinced it would fail (I on the other hand was the opposite).
How can a console with such a wide demographic fail?
I predict great things from Nintendo, and quite honestly I've become more and more of a "fanboy" with the release of the Wii.

                  Agreed.

the stalactite above the geyser was my main problem before and after was plain sailing.

Just got to the fourth dungeon, bit of headscratching going on at 1am this morning i can tell you!

I just started playing this, and I'm loving it so far....
However, I'm finding the controls on Wii to be a bit baffling.

Is there a reason why looking around in first-person has entirely different camera controls to the first-person projectile shooting?
With the slingshot, scrolling the camera around requires both the pointer and the analogue stick to be used at once - the analogue stick for lateral movement, pointer for vertical movement. This seems really clumsy, especially compared to the first-person look, which allows you to use either the analogue stick or the pointer to scroll the camera on any axis...

I've breifly played my bro's wii version, I've completed the cube version.

For along time OOT was my favourite game ever, then windwaker came out and I fell in love with it and the little fish that fills in the map for u LOL,

From the second I saw TP I knew it was going to be good but not as good as WW, but after completing it I think its safe to say it exceeds WW by far.

I currently going thru the game again, I have the wii version to but no wii to play it on yet, I read in edge (i think) that the next zelda was already under way half way thru the development of TW and its taking a different path to the average zelda (like windwaker did).

I'm also looking forward to hour glass on the DS, altho I heard it was being drastically overhauled - hopefully they'll keep the windwaker theme

Is there any way of finding out where all of the insects are for Agitha, or do you just have to keep an eye out for them on your travels?

Also, the fortune teller told me to go back to the ranch (where you herd the goats) and do something, presumably to get a heart. Do i have to herd the goats to get the heart?

You just have to keep an eye out for the bugs, but if you come near to one there should be a little audio twinkle, to let you know you are close to one.

                          Regarding the heart...

You need to go to the Ranch on Epona and talk to the ranch owner whilst sitting on Epona, he then asks you to hurd the goats and then you will get the heart piece.

This one bugged me (if you'll excuse the pun). I'll give you some general advice if you go hunting for them; there are a couple of exceptions, but you'll usually only find one pair in any given map segment. They are fairly well spread out, so if know where the ones you've found already are, check out other areas. Obvious stuff I guess is take advantage of night time, when the show up better, and as Miguel007 said, use your ears. You can hear them from about a screen away.

Now if there was just an easier way to locate Poes that would be great, I'm about 40 down but just can't be arsed to find the other 20.

Im finding the on foot combat a real bore so far on the GC version and hate running in to enemies. It seems to have gone nowhere since Wind Waker.

Im surprised the appalling combat isn't brought up more when talking about the faults of new 3d Zelda games.

I got the Wii version today and so far the sword slashing seems okay and involving enough to keep me engaged.
