Wow, ouch indeed. I think if that happens to me, this game might just get thrown in the bin...

The more I hear, the more bug riddled I'm thinking this game is!

Dave, you got the jump shot achievement, that's a quick and easy one to do, especially if you know you are gonna lose a match!

Done it again and got the achievement this time. First time round I potted something else along with the 9-ball so I guess you have to pot that only, even though I still potted it from the break!

Now, however, I've made it into the top 48 in pool and haven't been given that achievement yet - dunno when that'll appear...

(Not that I'm just playing for them )

It's all luck tbh. Best advice is just start loads of games (get loads of breaks), and hit the pack hard.

I just smashed it straight down the middle with tons of screw, but there's no technique to it, really.

How in the name of greek buggery did you WIN a tournament?

I tried going back to "realistic" length hoping I'd get a point for each frame I won but, NOPE. A 7-6 win in pool, it was SO satisfying as I came from 0-4 down. Back to 4-4, then he won every other frame so I was always trailing, but then we got to 6-6 and I got the final frame. SO sweet.

BUT, 1 point for my stats, 7 bloody framse, and a total of 13 played and ONE point.

There seems to be no easy way to get your player half decent.

Also, I've potted all my balls and the black in one go, but no achievement. It talks about "rack" which is a 9ball term I always though, but the achievement just says "Pool: Pot an entire rack" or something.

Annoying. This game isn't getting any easier or less frustrating.

Seriously, HOW did you win a tournament?

You have to win frames in one visit. I played Ronnie in the final after putting out Davis, Hendry and Murphy. Playing on medium length, the final was the best of 9 frames, I won it 5-2. I didnt score any centuries but all frames were won in one visit with breaks of around 70. If Ronnie got in I rarely had another go in the frame.

When I played Hendry he scored a 147 I had one shot which was a decent safety.

Not saying that Herbalizer did it in anyway, on another forum I have seen people using the technique of:

Setting games to short, if you look like your going to lose a match, bring up the dahboard and quit out with "Y" before the game autosaves, and repeat until you win (similar to the DOA2 trick before the patch).
Dodgy, but see no reason why it wouldn't work.

Have some sympathy for me, I've got Herbalizer in our little tournament, I have have two hopes

I think playing human players is going to be 10x harder, safety is the key, which I am not great at. If you leave the computer a tricky shot they will probably either turn it down or miss it, a human player is more likely to take it on and pot it.

Edit: I havent used that technique, it would remove any sense of Achievement.

Got 11 reds and 10 blacks yesterday after the computer played a dodgy safety, I'd opened the pack enough to get a 147 then ended up rattling a black. Also in a different match got my first century with 122 wooo!

Despite its flaws, I'm really enjoying WCS2007, the snooker physics are pretty spot on.

I'm getting pretty good at pool and can beat most opponents easily now. The only problem is coming from Ronnie who is literally super-human. Leave him a chance, he'll clear up. Then he breaks in the next frame and pots from it, and then clears up. I've gone 4 frames of pool with no shots before. Everyone else makes more mistakes though and I'm at the point where I can capitalise on it and take a frame easy.

One question, though. What moron came up with the idea for the 8ball tournament schedules? 16 players, play each one once, and then the top two have three matches against each other. It makes no bloody sense, and takes for-bleeding-ever. And I ALWAYS end up with O'Sullivan in those final three. Has he paid the developers off so he never loses a match I'm not in?

I've been playing pool mainly to up my stats before attempting snooker too much. Something like 90 points to the good at the moment. I'm fairly sure that in an actual tournament, if you record a win without losing a frame, you get 2 points instead of 1. That's the only way to speed things up I can see. Otherwise, just start a pool season, play a couple of qualifiers of 9-ball, which lasts 2 minutes max, and then start a new season: repeat.

Oh man I know that feeling. Qualifying was the worse thing I've ever done in this game, it feels like punishment!! It seems endless, but worse than that it doesn't even tell you how many games it entails!

Oh, how I hate this game sometimes. Does anyone have any idea of the rules of the World Pool League and Mosconi cup? I've spent ages working my way up the rankings, and FINALLY have got qualified for them.

World Pool League: 6 players, in a league, it seems, looking at the event progress screen. I play my first match, which I win 2-0, then the game tells me that Ronnie O'Sullivan won the WPL. WHAT?!

Mosconi Cup: In the 'final' there's about 16 games. I win mine 3-2, and someone else wins the Mosconi Cup, again, WHAT?!

What the hell are the rules supposed to be? How can I win a match and lose the tournament? Now I have to go through the entire 8-ball season again (the worst experience in my gaming life) to get round to attempting these achievements again.

                            FFS.

I agree about the frustration this game can cause. Just got to the last couple of games of that 16 round pool tournament then next time I load up it tells me it can't find a save file and asks if i want to create another, argh!

Think I'm finished with this now, its good but too many annoyances!

To me, they haven't got the difficulty right at all. After 2/3 matches it's obscenely hard and it takes one miss and your out. I know that is realistic but nobody wants to play a GAME like that!
