    Athlon 3500+, 800xt, 2gig ram.

It's not running at full detail by any means, but the cuts I'm taking are worth it for the improved lighting.

I'm still really struggling to get anywhere mind I'm in
trying to get into the next area on. I can survive the gunfights quite long now, but my weapons seem to do very little damage. I'm not able to get in close enough to get headshots either.

    I really really loved the

defend mission when you first get into garbage. It was pretty easy but very enjoyable!

i love the game's atmosphere very much but i am struggling with the keyboard and mouse controls - as usual! no gamepad support - let alone support for the xbox 360 controller! that's pathetic

Just got this today... only played it for about an hour or so, but so far it seems really good. Died a few times on the very first mission but soon got the hang of things. It doesn't run that fast on my PC using moderate settings, however it certainly isn't unplayable so I'm happy

The graphics are insanely good in some areas! Some of the best lighting I've seen.

Finally getting the hang of things now. Got myself a nice machine gun with enough ammo to get by each encounter, it's still tricky but at least I don't have to run away all the time now!

          I've just reached the
area, so managed to do quite a bit tonight.

            ohhh

one thing i remembered ages ago they were talking about material properties like being able to shoot through wooden doors etc is that still here ?

I think so, keep getting shot through doors anyway.

The combat when the AI is working is just superb. It's funny in a way I look forward to going inside buildings almost as much as discovering new exterior maps; just got to the dark valley, and

attacking the bandit stronghold to get the other key to the underground lab

was great - playing cat and mouse inside the crumbling buildings to the howl of the wind and the crackle of my geiger counter for the win.

                Inside

                the underground lab

                now; when the

                poltergeist

turned up I nearly had a heart attack. This really does join a very select group of games with nigh-on peerless ambience and audio design - someone should win awards for this or there's no justice.

Patch is out now but it doesn't let you use your old saves ¬_¬

The biggest gameplay addition is probably armour taking damage and being much more expensive. Think I'll save that hassle for a second playthrough.

If thats the only major change then i'll keep my current save thanks. The games hard enough as it is without my limited armour being damaged.

Doesn't let you use old saves, wtf? That's rubbish.

Does it improve performance\stability at all?

Some say yes, some say no - you can always back your saves up and reinstall if you don't think it's worth it. I didn't see any difference myself, but then I do have a fairly old PC.

I've used this on various games (with wired 360 pad), works a treat. If you figure out a way to get fire onto the trigger though, let me know!

The game gets creepier the further you get, some of the later bit's are truely terrifying.

I just picked up an RPG \o/

I'm quite impressed with the combat so far, although it felt clunky at first it does grow on you, and the vast ammount of weapons and accessories is awesome. The developers have done a good job and slowly introducing you to new weapons too, I must be about 20+ hours in and I'm still finding new types of pistols and rifles.

Anyone seen the nice little nod to half-life 2 yet?
