Someone said fill in Plasma pistol information. The homing has been toned down alot, will only track you slightly now. So it's really cut down on the BR abusers of it. It has a new interesting feature though, a full bolt will actually stop a vechical in its tracks. It's been said that if you hit a banshee it will actually drop out of the air.

Yes I managed to hit a mongoose the other night and follow up with a nade right at the wheelbase

      HIGHLY satisfying !!!

righty, let's start off with your default weapon, the Assault Rifle (AR). The assault rifle has been massively improved since the original Halo, it is now a pretty formidable weapon in the right situations. This is now a short-mid range weapon (for the record, long range is sniper rifle, short range is SMGs/Shotgun) and used properly it can easily dispatch an enemy. It has a 32 shot clip which is enough for 2 enemies to be killed off before a reload. Aiming for the head is of course the best way to get the party started and the gun loses accuracy the longer you hold down the trigger so try to shoot it in bursts. ....
mate, is this based on your experience? or out of Bungie's Halo 3 PR folder? however, i wont argue anymore, the "weapon balance" discussion is over for me. most people believe what they want to believe i guess.

How the **** are you supposed to kill two people with the Assault rifle? Via the headshots you say? Okay then, how the **** are you supposed to shoot someone in the head when they are just jumping about all over the place? Are you supposed to jump about too making it look like a coupla frogs leaping around shooting or just stand there so one of his many teammates can just mellee you to death?

In a situtation where two of them are shooting at you and you're firing back. You won't win. Headshots dont work with the AR as it not a headshot weapon, it doesnt recongise them and it isn't precise enough. Just aim for the body.

There are strats to take on 2 guys. Most of them include using grenades. If they're close, throw two grenades and if you're lucky you won't even need to fire your gun. If you're close, throw a grenade and jump back, and when they've hurt come in and shoot/melee.

like i said in my megapost, this is experience and what works for me. i've taken on 2 people (one after another) and came out victorious with only a single clip used.

this is all info that can be used to your advantage about the weaponry, this can't make up for basic failings in your own aiming and such so don't get bent about it *stares at jebus* if it's not currently working out for you. as with everything, practice enables you to become better at the game. jumping helps as it means you're harder to target, to what extreme you take this is entirely up to you but bear in mind that jumps have a predictable arc so it's possible to shoot ahead of the person and catch them when they land.

              Q:
does the jumping melee still outclass a standing melee damage wise? i have to be honest i've not noticed.

*edit: i should add that i posted this in order to try and help people, not come across like a dickhead so less of the attitude please.

I'm aware I suck at the game! However, every other game you start badly in, but most of them have a good enough difficultly curve that you can get reasonable enough to compete after a while. Take Vegas (sorry to keep comparing, I know they are VERY different), I sucked major ass at that to begin with, but the game was enjoyable enough and GOOD enough to get me to keep trying and then I got good!

This game however, I feel is so arrogant in its assumption you were a god of halo 2 that you should just be able to be the same in this.

To be honest, I won't spoil the thread for anyone else, I just don't like the beta at all, for me it's about as dull and generic as I've played in recent years.

It's a game I wish I could love just to get in some games with you guys but I can't, I cannot see past what is a very boring multiplayer experience, for me.

Appreciate the detailed post though, I don't think anyone thought you were being a dickhead!

Bottom line (sadly) is that I don't like Halo 3. I don't know why I assumed it would be different, I only recently played Halo 2 and found the single player and multiplayer extremely generic and drab.

However, one thing suprised me, my best mate : an AVID Halo fan, didn't like the beta much either, he said it was a bit boring and not as good or as fun as gears of war.

I gave it a read Crisp and it was helpful like you say if you can't hit the guy it doesn't matter what gun you are using. You didn't come across as a twat either so two thumbs up from me.

Its not arrogant you happen to be playing with some of NTSC best Halo players. Why don't you try and get a Newbie game sorted on the online section.

+ you've only played 6 games Jebus hardly enough to be passing any judgement on how easy it is to learn.

Had some real great games online. VIP on Valhalla is really fun when you're planning and have to readapt to when the enemy reacts. My main plan on Valhalla is to get the spartan laser and then get some guys in a warthog to go VIP hunting.

Yeah VIP is turning out to be a real beauty - It's what makes Halo so good - take a gametype like this (which everybody hates with a passion usually i.e Gears) and it just seems to adapt to the game so well.

Had some great ranked games with randoms earlier where we were up on the cliff edge on Valhalla just pegging the enemy whenever they came towards us whilst one went off on a hunt for their VIP.

                          Class in a glass

Grenades seem absolutely vital to me in this game - A grenade in the general proximity (ie near enough to almost fully deplete shield) can work wonders

                            Comment

It's been like that since the original. Grenades can change the tide of a battle instantly, and the furthur skill you invest into them (timing, bounces, sticks etc) the better you will play.

As Bungie say, the three pillars of Halo's Combat are: Weapons, melee and grenades.
