It could be me, now being over the uniqueness of the game and the way it plays.

It's just you. I think this is every bit as good as the original.

What issues? Ouendan is a masterclass in handheld game development. EBA did have issues, namely that the beats were simply out of time on some songs. Personally I also thought the music was poor, but obviously that's subjective.

I never noticed that in EBA but I take peoples word for it that it's there, it's very apparent to me to be present in some songs on this

          No it isn't.

I've spent time with it this weekend (I'm just up the set of stages after the boy with the late night bladder problems) but because I've not finished with it yet I've yet to make up my full mind about it.

It certainly hasn't grabbed me in the same way that the original did this many songs in, but like I say, I'm holding off full judgement at this point in time.

100% agreed, but let's face it - you could just as well add the word "unsurprising" to go along with "hilarious" and "depressing".

Exactly how i felt. I am yet to complete hard mode but am upto the final song, but i do hear that Monkey Magic is in the game, that right there may make up for the the quick cashin i am hoping the game isnt.

You have no soul. I can't believe people aren't in love with this game.

Seriously, what more did you expect from it? It has fantastic songs, great art, funny stories, and more multiplayer modes.

Probably because it lost some of the "what the...?" factor the first had. I just completed normal this morning on the train and it was good, I was surprised that I smoked the final song at the second attempt - it's not the game's fault for being easy or having lost its magic, it's just that, like me, other people played Ouendan to the death and find it confortable.

And the game offers nothing really new, this is a fact; any new addition could have ruined the simply and addictive gameplay, however, and probably we'll be discussing why they did that and broke the game.

Songs - yes, even at normal they are much more engaging, however, I stand with what I said earlier, I feel that the first game had a wider selection of rhythms. Being on the rocking side of music I miss the guitars and fast beats some songs had and all that J-pop is a bit boring, but they aren't bad. The last song has a nice crescendo toward the end and it's very engaging and so far it's my favorite, musically speaking.

it least they didn't bugger it up, and it seems (as would of course be the case given the genre) that people are loving/hating it based on the musical choices.

all i do is play ouendan 1 when i wanna hear melody or something, and ouendan 2 when i wanna hear shonen no heart and kibun jojo.

i found ouendan 2 much easier to finish than ouendan 1 (and i got higher ratings overall - lots of S's whereas in ouendan i've never got higher than B), but maybe that's because now i'm used to how it plays and what to do.

so what were the problems that EBA had that have carried over to ouendan 2?

The map, I'd say. The old 2D map was easier to navigate. This one is too near the ground and makes hard to notice with a glance who needs your help; at least it's no spinning globe.

I'm not particularly impressed either. I don't like the songs as much and I can't see anything new at all. It'd have been nice to have had some sort of new addition of some kind..

yeah i found that once where i had to drag about looking for the next stage, but that was only the once.

it still looks pretty groovy i thought, all bustling and with the flying things!

but i can see why people would get annoyed with it. mind you i bet if they left the map alone people would've said 'man, they coulda spruced up the map section a bit'

                            Exactly, you can't please everyone.

FWIW, I like it just as much as the first one. Everything that endeared me to it's brethren, is still here. I didn't want em' reinventing the wheel with this, just stick to what made it great in the first place. And they did. IMO.

I quite like the songs, which were always going to be a sticking point for some, but hey, it coulda been worse, they could've used Elite Beat and masqueraded that off as Ouendan 2.

The map is zoomed in for frame rate issues. Perhaps they should have left it 2D, but I really think it's such a trivial complaint it's pointless to bring it up as a mark against the game.

I'm lost to understand people moaning over the soundtrack too. I've been playing it on my iPod for a while now and I think it's every bit as good as Ouendan 1, perhaps even slightly better.

As for the difficulty level, if you go back and play Ouendan 1 on Hard you'll walk through it. We're just all so used to the mechanics now that Ouendan 2 seems easier.

Because people have different musical tastes.
