Just tried an A series race with US cars only. Hilarious. Whereas up to now, I've not seen many mistakes, in this race the AI is crashing into walls under the power, crashing into each other, crashing into barriers under not enough braking. Brilliant. Useless cars, each and every one.

Ive tried a number of different options, starting with no power applied, quick shifting to 2nd, revving halfway, revving at the margin of the red tacometer. The best way ive found is to keep the revs at a medium level.
Is there any sureproof method, or does it depend on the car?
Anyway, in my experience the perfect launch (and one that's faster than using Traction Control) will see you use just enough revs to have some wheelspin - but only a small amount that lasts just a moment before the tyres "bite".
Use too many revs and the tyres will just light up. Not enough and you'll get a good initial launch but the engine will be bogged-down in the lower end of the rev scale where there's no power.
It's just a case of experimenting with your car to find something inbetween the two extemes.
To be honest, I haven't really perfected my starts in Forza 2 yet since I'm always using different cars but I did on Dreamcast F355 since it was pretty crucial in that game. When I got it right using the above method, I was always quicker off the line than people using assists.

it feels lacking in substance.
I keep thinking of ways it could be improved, and things I woud like to see in it.

Seriously... I think there should be double the amount of tracks. That's the main issue I have with the game; I'd be far happier if there were the down-hill tracks and some new ones.
What about commentators? .... Some sort of A.I that commentates over the action. I'd like to see some interesting fresh features; some surprises.
What about weather; that would have helped. Rain is something that's being promised in GT5 and PGR4. I think that should have featured in Forza2.
I really like Forza2, but I can't help but feel that Turn10 didn't put enough ingredients into the mix, to make it the hearty meal I desire.

I love the new Sebring track though.
I also have to admit that the game needed a few more tracks, all the tracks in the game are great, but I could use a few more, Rio, Japan, the Hill races.....
I hope they give us one or 2 new tracks with the new DLC

echo the sentiments about the low number of tracks compared to GT.
also the fact that you have class D/C/B/A/S amateur, then pro, for which you will use exactly the same cars (i.e. cars tuned to the ceiling of that class). The hire driver option is handy!
I am now at level 29 - I can't see myself making it to 50 unless I do a mass hiring of the cpu. keen to get my hands on the 962 though - surely the best car in the game?
on Live it shows you the best total times for a race. is there anyway to get the best lap times? (not referring to time trials - which are less interesting as the car is fixed)
There was a program on sky last night (I think channel 291) featuring lots of FM action. Needless to say the drivers had madskillz...

To get the best lap times for each track at each class, I think you go to Free Run in Arcade Mode, select the class of car, and press Y on the particular track to bring up the Best Lap Leaderboards. Think thats what you want. If not, then I dont think theres any other way to see best laps.
EDIT: just noticed it was best lap times for the races in career you were talking about. Sorry, you can't AFAIK.

Ta for that. Quite interesting to see some of the insane times that people are setting both in free run and career.
I had a look at the top time on Laguna (it's something like 1.03 in a ferrari 333) and the replay nearly gave me motion sickness
Now if only they had a drag strip track then the top secret tuner cars would be top.

Just completed career mode, and am glad I can now focus on online play. The only bad thing with Career is how some of the original test track variations are never used after the half point, and other tracks like Suzuka East and West are severely underused.
What with my 360 playing up recently I was on tenterhooks for the last endurance races, especially the last one which took me an hour and 1 minute. By far the most frustrating race was the showdown between the 1967 Ferrari and the 1967 Ford GT. Talk about slidey-slidey, they had the worst handling, made all the worse by the fact you could not upgrade or tune them in any way.
Anyway, this is the game of the year so far for me. It is exactly what I was looking for. A game which is challenging yet incredibly rewarding. It blows all other serious racers out of the water.
I never played the original Forza, so this is why this was such a breath of fresh air for me.
My main wishes for the next Forza game would have to be more classic tracks, like those from the Grand Prix Legends game. Watkins Glen, the old Spa track, the Osterreichring, Road America, the old Kylami track, Rio (is this the same one as in Moto GP 2?).
Plus, small gripes like improving the Tournament races in Online mode. Perhaps an Endurance lobby where regular Endurance races are organised, prizes awarded. Not having the 360 save at places like the title screen (pathetic and rubbish point I know).
Its online all the way now.

are there any tracks on which a non R1 car can outperform the R1 cars?
surely if you buy a 1000hp supra/nissan r34 and apply full mods it would be able to compete with the 962?
i would have thought nissan speedway, but looking at the quickest times they are all set using the 962 or ferrari 333sp.
